not one to be skepitical and doubt germany sheer quality. But i cannot believe the sheer energy the german team showed. When you consider 90 minutes full pace playing at altitude they just seemed to have endless energy argentina and england just couldnt keep up the same intensity. Do ulot think it just because of germans young average age or could there be another reason?

It could be down to a combination of things. Training methods, the fact that many of these players are relatively unknown quantities in the footballing world, youth, a never say die attitude, adrenalin, the desire to succeed at the highest level and so on...

Time running out for a star to perform, Torres has 3 games left (max), maybe he can do a Paolo Rossi?

To be fair Villa has performed. Klose too even if he is getting on a bit.

There was a good interview in 442 about the German's during the world cup and why they always do well. From such a young age they are drilled in with the mentality of winning, even for under 21 tournaments.

Well worth a read if you can dig that one out. And to think several of those players today were from that under 21 team a year and a bit ago, makes it even more impressive.

I'll try and locate the article Bav.

I think Beckenbaur was spot on with what he said about English football, I hated the fact he felt obliged to apologise for his comments. As they say, the truth hurts.

England could do with adopting the German approach to football, we might actually be able to beat someone half decent.

The balance between attacking and defending, experience and 'younglings' was right. They are an attractive side to watch !

Today they defended as a team and were devastating in attack.

They snuffed out the attacking prowess of Argentina and exposed their biggest weakness - defence.

They and other teams including all South American teams and Ghana (for new and upcoming) are all comfortable with the ball - the Kaiser taliked of 'kick-and-rush' - that is immature football, not being confortable in possession.. that is back to basics stuff.

BTW although Messi did not score he's still proven he is the most gifted of this generation at THIS world cup- at 22 don't hold your breath people, the next world cup - in Brazil - will be his   :buttrock

Pay £5 for the magazine and then you find the interviews are all online for free.

Here you go I managed to track it down. Enjoy!

Also on your last comment England should try and look for talent among immigrents ect... Most of Germany's best players are actually from other nations. Klose and Podolski are both Polish and Ozili is Turkish. But the whole system needs changing from the bottom up.

Cheers Bav and with regards to your comments, Ozil was born in Germany and Podolski and Klose were either born in Germany or have German nationality due to living in Germany for x number of years.

We could have had Carlo Cudicini at one point as our keeper, but for some reason he was never bought in from the international wilderness.

Torres didnt do much in Euro 2008 before the final either. Perhaps he will do the same here.

Get him in the England team, he has more technical ability than any English player plying their trade in the Premiership.
