International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

Marquez booked for dissent, what a horrendous piece of linesmanship. Football needs to go the way of the Rugby Union and introduce technology because the standard of refereeing at football's biggest and most prestigious competition has been nothing short of diabolical. How on earth can rules override referring decisions? Argentina are unfairly 1-0 due to a mistake by the linesman and it is mistakes like that which change matches. Disguting, I am fuming here, two diabolical decisions in one day/two matches is grossly unacceptable.

Ricardo Osorio mistake, Higuain scores, it's 2-0 and I cannot Mexico coming back from this and that Perez fella is just a useless goalkeeper, there was no challenge on Higuain whatsoever. I expected much more from Mexico, I'm disappointed. I think they'll get a spanking from Argentina tonight. I can see it being 3-1, or 4-1, maybe even 5-1.

There's the most exciting team to watch, whether they'll win is not something I would support, not based on what I have seen. Mexico haven't put up much of a challenge have they?

England where a shambles and i am shocked by how bad they were. I did not expect that at all, as you can see by my comments last night  :D

by the way i did not mention lampards goal that obviously was comfortably over the line and shocking that the linesman missed it because it wasnt relevant in the game.
It could and should have been even heavier the defeat imo.

Do anyone agree? I have never seen such poor performance from the refs in this WC than any other ones. Messi's goal was clearly offside

Mexico have been screwed by the referee, though as a professionals they shouldn't have lost their heads and taken their eyes off the ball, but I understand why it has affected their performance from then on.

Offside, yet another disastrous decision at this World Cup.

2 in a day. You couldn't make this up. Tomorrows FIFA press conference should be a cracker.

I feel a bit sorry for Mexico as they were playing well but the game could be beyond them now.

I agree Bav, the calls for technology to be introduced has never been stronger and I want to see the same technology in football that exists in Rugby Union. FIFA cannot hide behind "disruption of the game" as Rugby Union decisions are made within a minute or so and referee's in football matches more often than not are reasonable for the lack of fluidity in matches.

I do hate how Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and John Terry show no emotion in their post match interviews, the only player to look like he had been crying was Joe Cole, surprise, surprise? I think not. If I was Michael Dawson I would be fuming that an average centre back like Matthew Upson was allowed to play ahead of him.

An intersting point to note in regards to Capello and England. Capello refused to take any players not in form or playing on a regular basis so left Owen and Walcott. However 2 of Germany's scorers today, Klose and Podolski have both had terrible seasons by their standards.
