yeah, about 20 years ago maybe.

some of dylan morans early stuff was genius but then he got mainstream
some of bill hick s early stuff was genius but then he got :censored:
some of denis learys stuff was class but then he clamed down

seeing a pattern?
sowws what i think of billy connollys newer stuff

oh, fyi (in american mood) that is the worst list of comedians ever!
ive never worked out peter kay, hed be good at butlins, but...no thanks

ricky gervais doesnt do stand up, he reads funny things that are written for him by him and someone else, theres a difference.

chris rocks still got it tho, Andy Kaufman was insane, and emo phillips is...different

Dave Allen was very funny, always made me laugh. Les Dawson, Tommy Cooper, Bob Monkhouse, Jim Davidson, Chubby Brown, Frankie Howard. Totally different types but all funny, in my opinion of course, more recent ones, Lee Evans, Jack Dee, Lee Mack, Frankie Boyle, Al Murray, Harry Hill, Rich Hall. There the ones off the top off my head thats me list for santa done !

cant believe nobodys mentioned richard pryor - funniest standup ever, starred in some god awful movies, trying to build a superman movie around him was probably the dumbest idea in film history

???

Just shows how varied comedy tastes can be. I love Phoenix Nights (even now having seen it about a million times) and Max & Paddy were hysterical in that but when it came to their own show it was about as funny as being circumcised with a blunt knife :Oo: . The only scene I can remember that was classic PN was the bit were they try to sell a Pig to a Muslim/Islamic(can't remember which) butcher :wwww

One thing M&P proved for me was that Peter Kay ain't the comedy genius everyone thought he was. His standup shows (all two of 'em) are very funny but you can see that he's got very limited material. It would seem a lot of the comedy genius of Phoenix Nights came from Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice who both had nowt to do with Max & Paddy.
