Real Madrid are desperate to get a team with names. They're not happy with Wenger saying no (credit to the man) and they have extra pressure. They were used to get and buy with arrogance, and now Wenget says them no. Their pride is hurt, and they've announced Alonso is a target. Their level of desperation have some zeros more than ours.

It's time to be ruthless and I won't forgive Rafa an early agreement.

if it is true that Real want to "get more Spanish," do you think we could possibly get an even better "value for money" if we wanted to do a player swap deal for a non-Spaniard that they might be keen to depart with and sell for less that their actual value?  Because of the drop in pound, it is going to "seem" more expensive this summer to buy from Europe than it has been recently.  Gago+cash? Sneijder+Cash?  Gago+Sneijder? I would wonder if people think Mascherano-Alonso is too "defensive," what they would think about Gago-Mascherano. Although they did win a gold medal together.

Gago I wouldn't mind, but Snejder is a bad professional mate. He likes more the nights than the ball.

I guess that it's pretty likely that players are involved in an eventual deal. I wouldn't mind to see names like Huntelaar involved.

We could get Guti too, for the Liverpool women team.

Maybe we could bring in Gago and Higuain.  Then sign Tevez.  Might be easier to tempt Messi over in a couple years     Heck, I would ask for Heinze and Saviola too if I thought that trick would work    Although then there would be the debate of whether Messi would be any good in the prem

We aren't (or shouldn't be) a selling club. Which means that unless our quality players WANT to go we shouldn't sell them. Last season I was very reluctant to see an off form Alonso sold. I am even more reluctant to see an on form Alonso sold.

If Alonso wants to go, we should definitely get Tevez, and Barry. Barry is a very good player, who while not having the same passing range as Alonso compensates in other areas. He is versatile, good in the air and creates and scores more goals than Alonso. So it wouldn't be the end of the world if we lost Alonso..... just not our first choice of options, while the addition of Tevez would be perfect for us in my opinion. In fact if selling Alonso meant we got Tevez, I would, but obviously I would prefer both to be with us next season.

There's a thing in the times online this morning regarding Ancellotti and his protracted move to Chelsea. In that, he says that in one of his meetings with Abrhamovic the Russian complained of the team having no "personality". Ancellotti suggested two signings, one of which was Alonso.

Could it be that the Madrid thing is actually wide of the mark and Xabi has been tapped up for a move to Chelsea? Surely not.

My money is still on him being at Liverpool for game one next season.

If it is out of our hands and he really wants to leave himself there is nothing we can do about it. Just thank him for his services and wish him luck for his future.

I am not going to ruin my summer with specualtion about him ala Gerrard, Owen.

I am trying to look for some positives and the only ones I can find is Furgie selling their best players and it didnt effect their team atall.
Stam, Beckham, Van Horse, Keane.

Ok we dont have a squad as big as them but the money he sold for he ploughed back into the team. But I get the feeling we wont be offered much money from RM they will feck us over again like they did with Owen 8 million and a deck chair seller Nunez thrown in.
They will probably offer us Van der Vaart, Snijder, Drethe or other players. Plus a few million.

I dont want Xabi to leave before anyone says what Ive said is disrespectfull, if Xabi leaves because of last seasons palava then I find him being a bit disrespectfull to us fans.

No it isnt a different scenario Nan, this is based on the manager and not the quality of the player, its not relevant who the player is, in both situations he has said he wants the player to stay, he said this the day keane left, this makes his comment about wanting alonso to stay as being less believable.
