Nicky barmby - Where did it all go wrong?

I've just heard that Nicky Barmby is on his way to Nottingham Forest on loan for a month.

Correct me if i'm wrong (I probably am....and i'm sure you all will) but one minute he was in our team, in the England first eleven, scoring around 5 - 10 goals in about 40 games for Liverpool as we won three trophies.

What were the reasons for selling him?  He always struck me as a player you would WANT in your team.  He was always a decent player in his mid-twenties, what happened to him?

Is it due to the fact that we had too many midfielders at the club at the time and we couldn't accomodate him?  I know he was injured a lot, but was he THAT BAD?

I was wondering exactly the same thing. I liked Barmby and he played well for us ..but i think he got injured and was out longtime...hey he even played in the great Liverpool team that beat Germany 5-1 in Germany (wink)

A: Shoot the United Fan. Twice.

Where did it all go wrong for him?  I blame Everton.  I was at the mini derby at Goodison Park once (Mark Kennedy ruled the reserves at the time, he looked too good for the reserves, but couldn't make the grade in the first team) and he was even brought off after an hour of that.

Yet again, Everton.  What a curse it must be to be born a Blue......

Nick Barmby always has good starts and then fizzels out, he was very good for us in his first season, it was unfair when he didn't get his place back after injury.
