Fvcking hell, what a night.
I'm so proud of the lads for what they did last night, I've been watching us a long time and I've never seen a comeback like that, some people have mentioned Istanbul but imo that comparison only stands up if we would have started that Milan game without say, Gerrard and Alonso and another key player (like big Sami) had to go off at HT.
It wasn't just the fact we came back it was the fact that we battled against injuries and even what happened the night before, imagine how our players must have felt when Kompany puts it in the top corner from 25 yards when City were struggling big time? They must have been on the floor, how they picked themselves up mentally after that God only knows.
Every single player ran their blood to water, Shaq didn't have his best game creativity wise (though he popped up with a vital assist) but he worked his fvcking @rse off, when you get creative players like Shaq rolling their sleeves up you can achieve literally anything, that was our secret years ago, great players like Kenny, Souey etc rolling their sleeves up and outworking even teams full of yeomen. As a team we ran 6k further than they did, our lads took Barca into the trenches where a game becomes more about heart than skill and we found out which team had the biggest hearts.
I mentioned yesterday that people's ashes were spread on our pitch, after the final whistle last night just before the players and staff lined up for that rendition of YNWA Alisson (who had a great game btw) knelt down in the Kop goalmouth, looked up to the heavens and said a little prayer, he's probably not aware that Bill Shankly's ashes are buried in that goalmouth but given the heart, determination and sheer guts the lads showed last night I thought it was a particularly poignant moment, Bill would have been very proud. We all are.
