World cup looming - No-one signed yet

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby EddieC » Tue Jun 06, 2006 6:27 pm

I'm a bit concerned by the fact that despite Rafa saying our summer signings would arrive before the WC, we're yet to see any of them.

What if Kuyt, Joaquin, Simao etc. all have a blinder and their prices rocket? We can't compete financially with Sh!tski & Manure, and while one of Bellamy, Bent, Pennant and the rest would be ok, I wouldn't like these to be the only players we could pick from.

It's common knowledge we need a RM & a striker, IMO at least one of these needs to be a world class player for us to challenge for EPL next season.

Do you think Rafa has deals tied up & is keeping mum, or do we need to worry if all our targets have a blinder?

Rafa always signs his players quite late in the transfer window. He did it in the last two, so why expect anything less?

Can we afford to this year though?

Rafa normally means what he says, and he said he'd have the deals tied up before the world cup. With only 3 days to go, this doesn't look likely.

I was under the impression that Pennant had aggreed on a sort of deal where if we found no one better then we could sign him but now Birmingham are saying that hes not for sale.

Surley he wouldnt want to stay there would he ?

Not that hes my fist choice but I think hes pretty good. Im only saying his name as we are not going to be able to afford Joaquin.

The only other option is Malbranque from what I can see.

Rick Parry returns from his holidays tomorrow, id expect quite a bit to happen over the next few days.

I suspect that we have a few deals wrapped up we are just waiting for Parry to return and then we will comfirm everything.

Im hoping we can wrap up Pennant and Bellamy for around 10 mil, then with Cisse leaving along with Mori we should at least get the money back and Rafa can consentrate on getting Kuyt with most of his transfer budget because the money he will have spent on those 2 will have been made by the sales of Mori and Djib

A) What the hell is Parry on holiday for?
b) What the F*ck are you on about signing Kuyt.
C) Three transfers won't happen in 3 days.

:)

it's like last summer all over again. i just wish people would stop moaning. man united haven't signed anybody yet either, and they've got more rebuilding to do than us imo.

as far as i'm concerned, the aurelio, defoe and pennant deals are all pretty much sewn up. they just haven't been confirmed by the club officially yet.

straight after the f.a cup final rafa took a holiday back in spain and has not long returned.
i think rafa has put in offers to clubs and is now playing a waiting game.
its reported that birmingham arent happy at our offer of 3.5m for pennant but rafa knows that pennant`s advisors will be banging on the birmingham chairmans door and phoning him every five minutes saying ` you cant fec.k up this dream move for jermaine`
i dont think rafa is as wasteful as houllier when it comes to cash but if we are trying to put the squeeze on a few clubs it could mean either we are really short of dough or rafa is counting his pennies for a big money bid for someone.

Going out on a limb there mate :D

Nah seriously, I don't know what the big fuss is all about. We made our first signings in July last season, and the majority in the same month the year before. The only reported player that has been linked with us that is going to the WC is Kuyt.

i wanted to say the same thing stmichael. Mancs hasn't bought anyone else, even Arsenal(although they bought rosicky but we got more aurelio and palleta).

Don't worry, we will get the players. We have time.

A) Why dont you think the man deserves a chance to go on hooliday at the only point it is possible for him to go on one you fuc*in idiot.

B) Im just stating that id like us to sign Kuyt and Rafa should have the resources so once again, dont be such a fu*kin idiot.

C) And where did i say we would sign 3 players in 3 days, me god you dont half jump to conclusiong lad.

Im just stating that Parry has been taking a well earned break, as has Rafa and Rafa said he would like to get players in the World Cup, and if you look you fuc*ing retard only 1 of the players i have mentioned is going the World Cup and the other 2 are just players i reckon we will sign (Pennant, its pretty much nailed on) And Bellamy, not someone i really think Rafa will go for again but just a player who for 6 million will give us so much upfront arnt going the World Cup meaning he doesnt have to worry about the World Cup and there prices going up.

So before you start spouting boll0cks and talking sh!t, just take a little look at what i am saying 1st.

To make it simple for you....

Sell Mori and Cisse we earn 10 - 12 mil

Id like to see us get Bellamy 6mil and Pennant 3/4 mil, thats 10 mil.

So Rafa has new striker and winger without touching his transfer Budget.

Then Rafa can use budget to hopefully get Kuyt as he looks the most likely to come and probably the one Liverpool fans want most.

Thats just my opinion on what i think, and would like to happen.
