After the last summer, which was one of the greatest transfer market dissapointments ever (Reina, Sissoko and Crouch were good signings, but to be honest we were expecting more), I'm not going to even bother keeping hopes high this time.

I'm sure there's plenty of work going on behind the scenes to get players in for next season, but you can't blame people for being a bit negative about the whole thing after what happened last summer.  Missing out on Figo, Owen and Simao was a kick in the balls.  While it wasn't entirely Benitez's fault, alternative targets should have been in place and the business should have been done earlier in the summer - we waited too long on Figo making a decision, thern on Madrid making a decision on selling Owen.  The signings we did make were good, but not bringing in a striker and a right midfielder cost us in the end.  If the world cup passes and we've not brought anyone in, I for one will start getting concerned.

I'm a bit concerned by the fact that despite Rafa saying our summer signings would arrive before the WC, we're yet to see any of them.

He said "It would be nice to complete transfers before the world cup " and with a twinkle in his eye "It might be cheaper"

Would of thought that by now you would know that Rafa doesn't rush into anything if he doesn't have to . Still two months to go before the window closes . Get a grip .

Yeah I did see that, but to be fair I did start the thread saying Rafa had told us the signings WOULD be completed before the world cup, not that he'd LIKE to sign them before the WC, so technically I was wrong.
