I can only think that we desperately lack a big striker. Not the Crouch type with fancy feet and no header, but the Adebayor, Drogba, Berbatov, Carew type that our closest rivals do have.
I have always thought Santa Cruz, Dean Ashton, Miroslav Klose or (Dare I say it) Emile Heskey are the perfect type of striker for Torres to play off of. They can all score goals too (some more than others) but also have that impact of power, aerial threat and strength that you don't get from Robbie Keane.
Again, I'm not knocking Keane and actually do not expect him to be sold - but if we are going to sell him, surely it would be a good opportunity to sign someone who stands out amongst our smaller, slower strikers.
There's not a huge difference between Kuyt and Keane... and if we need pace up front alongside Torres then Babel has it.
Having an Aerial threat though could get the best out of Riera, Dossena and Babel from an attacking point of view, as all possess excellent crosses on occasions and deserve a better target than little Keane.
