Carra potential replacement for Henchoz but Pace is the issue there.
Who do you reckon on the right then, I go back to my Simon Davies theory

Wright Philips would be sound but its important the right back gets up to support.

do you really think simon davies is the class player we need to turn us from also-rans into premiership winners? hardly. as for SWP, he's had one good season. he needs to reproduce that sort of form consistently for another couple of seasons to even be considered.

I just hope we see the best out of Harry after a poor season! I hope he will be given licence to attack the full backs every game next season?

Ill tell you what I do genuinely believe it.
And no Welsh bias involved in the decision as it would break my heart if Bellamy joined

On the flanks we need players who can get to the byline and work hard with their respective full backs to increase the attacking options he works hard and can tackle and cross a ball excellently.

Im a believer in this style as it would gree Gerrard from his I have to do everything mentality he had last season and with a nice midfield partner Gerrard with his ability could sit in the middle dominating with his tackling and presence and spray passes to the right or the left or look for Owen up the middle

In an ideal world Id have Ballack in the middle as well capable of threading through balls and joining attacks with his skill on the ground and the air.

Hard working athletic team coming at you from loads of different angles

Phil Neal and Alan Kennedy...now that was some full back pairing...I think i'll have to stop watching the masters football on Sky.  It makes me get all nostalgic.

Taff gotta agree lad.

Personally i've always liked Davies...

I think he's a really good player, my only concern is his physical pressence... Gerrard, Kewell and Ballack can hold there own, i'd want someone at least as physical as Harry.

that was top class. molby can still pass a ball better than most of our first team squad. :(  :D

Bumped into Phil Neal in a hotel in Cardiff few months ago with the masters, said hello as you do said I supported Liverpool and he went off on one for a few minutes about how disgraceful it was to see the club struggling for fourth position and how he prays to see them win the league again. I was kinda shocked never thought he was like that

Hes still young Stu and beefing up.

Im a believer in attacking fullbacks and it really upsets me to see Liverpool floundering in that area especially with the talent up fron and in midfield, to take teams apart we also need different attacking options as the Gerrard long ball to Owen gets picked up a lot and I get the impression it gets played as there are no other options

I'm not surprised the likes of Phil Neal were cheesed off with the drop in standards at Liverpool.  Neal and his peers spent years creating building the Liverpool F.C. legend.  For the last few years they have had to watch mercenaries betray the club.  I'd love to be a fly on the dressing room wall when the old Liverpool players get together for the masters to hear what they say about feel about the current status of the team.

I was there with work mate to be honest and kept on bumping into players in the lift and lobby. I loved Phil Neal as a kid but had an impression of him as Graham Taylors right hand man.  It was really refreshing to see him getting wound up about the team as you probably wouldnt see him doing that in front of the camera.

Had a chat with Rushie as well, the both of us slagged the mancs off   :D  :D

One plus point in all this discussion is that we're one of few teams around that have a (potentially) solid pairing on the left hand side. Without splashing out silly money, there aren't too many genuinely left-sided players that you'd want in the side. Riise and Kewell have the potential to be as good a pairing over there as Cole and Pires have turned out to be.

Would be staggered if we didn't make a signing on the right hand side in the next few weeks though. We simply can't go into the new season using a makeshift like Smurf or Diouf on that side. It's showing us up badly, not to mention the fact that it's ruining Finnan's potential on that side.

Agreed about Riise and Kewell Ivor! Two fantastic players but lacking in consistency! Can they find this and proove to Benitez that they should be the regular left sided players?

Its not disgraceful, but certainly not proud. Struggling for 4th position ain't my cup of tea either. LFC, with many EURO 2004 players, fighting for 4th! Though it was better than souness's days....

I hope and pray to see for a struggle for the 1st place. Our players fight skin and teeth for every win. Kenny guided us to our last glory. Now Benitez will bring that back. It'll be the 1st since a long time, but not the last.

Man, if you did not find the team's poor play and the heartless and headless mercenaries on the pitch, perhaps you are not old enough to remember our glory days. I will not slag you off as not being a real fan but maybe you are a calmer person than I am, begintoend.

I has my stomach in knots and my heart always twisting every time I see the way Liverpool played under Houllier's latter part of his reign. We were dire, unimaginative, utterly defensive, ponderous, predictable and simply played without direction. Aimless passing, poor defending, slow on the ball (especially defenders) and too one-dimensional. Stevie G played his heart out and his midfield partners would waste passes, he is left to make long and speculative passes for Owen to chase and hopefully he can score. Owen's partner was hopeless, spending most of his time falling on his ar$e. The other players like Baros are left in the reserves as Houllier played his favourites, even though they were out of position and played cr@p.

Thank god the management has seen what the fans have been complaining about. We all love the club and can't help but support it even though the playing level was so dire.

We desperately need more creativity. i do agree that we need a right sided midfielder, a real one not someone playing wide like Diouf, and we also need a more creative midfielders plus quicker central defenders.

I think Benithez can introduce more tactical depth and a more able passing style.
