This rafa quote from SSN regarding Luic Garcia's sale...

"Luis was happy here, but Atletico is a good club for him," Benitez told Liverpool's official website.

"It was the right time, because after three years maybe the situation was different.

"He wanted to play every game and that's not easy when we have other players coming here"

sounds like we already sealed some deals for some wingers...

Sorry mate, I'll be more than happy to eat a family-sized humble pie if Kuyt does the business this year, but i just don't see it.

He cost £9m, Owen's available for £9m.

Who would you say is the better value?

as much as I like owen... I think that we should just move on... kiss your past goodbye  :buttrock ... would've liked him to come back but doesn't look like it... also I have my doubts on his overall fitness and form...

Ok, my last post on Owen.

Reason i think it could work is that he's class, always will be. He's still got 3 seasons at the top (even if he has lost that electric acceleration) because he's an intelligent player - he has the natural instinct that you never lose. This was often overlooked cos people just thought he was a speedster - his movement and anticipation are still top drawer.

Also, a lot of the 'move on, he's past it' sentiment comes from the feeling that you never take a player back, cos he's had his better days elsewhere and he's just coming home to puff up the pension. Not the case with Owen - his time away from Anfield has been fruitless and frustrating. He's got an icy ambition, Owen, and a lot of it us still burning away inside. And he must see in Rafa a man who can give him a real crack at big silverware.

All told, for £9m, he is possible the best bargain any club will find all summer.

Ah poor little Owen is he is feeling frustrated, maybe he shouldn't have stabbed Rafa in the back then the f8cking pr1ck!!!  :veryangry

I never ever want to see him back with us plus anyway he's a sicknote waiting to happen, I bet Newcastle would love to get rid of the little runt.

i dont get all these owen lovers, ok when he was at liverpool he was our indusputed goal king but MICHAEL OWEN is the one to leave us because he thought the grass would be greener in madrid and that he would go there and score loads of goals, win the la liga and champions league, and look who won it, he must of been sick.Another thing is that i thing he is a player who loves playing for his country before his club and i for one could never understand this from a northern player, not that he is northern he is welsh and thats another story!!!

Please, please ... enough about michael owen! He is in our past and he was a legend once but it looks as though his future will be riddled with injuries. Besides, the boss has said we are after wingers for now.

I agree that quaresma looks like he has the most potential. Yes, hes definately a show boat but that is were the potential lies, a little bit like luis (who is in longer with us) or possibly a bit like Ronaldo. Two years ago ronaldo had a few tricks but couldnt cross his legs...now he's mastered that and learned to be a tad less selfish.

Quaresma is young, has bags of tricks, pace and most importantly WANTS to beat a man. We need this down the right, if we sell Cisse to West Ham and Bellers to Blackburn/Villa then we should definately spend big. Benayoun wont fix a thing in my opinion.

Quaresma and Heinze if you can please senor benitez

:bowdown

my point exactly, the difference between Fowler and Owen is simple. Robbie never wanted to leave, Owen did. Thats why IMHO there should be no second chance

I think Quaresma would be a good buy, he reminds me a bit of Harry Kewell or a fit Harry Kewell would be.

Both terrible with there opposite foot but seem to get away with it.

I think mancini would be a quality buy for us, or even temp the water by putting a cheeky bid in for SWP, I can't imagine Chelsea to sell to us but it would be worth a shout IMO.

Why do you say he's now average ? because he got injured..? before he was injured he was one of the best player in the squad ,now he's back after his long injury itz too early to decide if the injury had made him average . I think rafa still rates him and will still keep him as an option.

Form is temporary Class is permanant

ps : I reckon that rafa will only sign one top class winger and it might be queresma , and i hope w gets heinze as well

Ref to Navas, he would be a class buy but i hear that he didnt want to play for the spanish youth sides cause he doesnt like being away from his own town , also that his father drives him to all his home games etc and watches him.........too much of a home bird to move here. so that fella will never move to england
