Who dares win? - Liverpool did

Not only can Liverpool can be classified as a 'work in progress' under the management of Rafael Benitez, the men from Anfield are also this season's Jekyll and Hyde club.

Great guns one moment, pea-shooters the next.

However the world witnessed a masterpiece from the Reds in terms of true grit: A five star performance of superhuman resilience that makes you wonder how far can this team go if they can just get their act together on a consistent basis.

It was a bit strange to see in this 201st Merseyside derby, that Everton is on top of us and they were expected to walk away at least a draw. We certainly had terrible luck with injuries. Cisse (broken leg), Alonso (broken ankle), Kirkland (back) and Kewell (groin, ankle, achilles and maybe a whole lot of other injuries to come that would make a stunt man call it a day). Lets not forget that at various stages, Gerrard, Baros and Garcia has spells in the treatment room as well.

If Benitez thought the worst is over, his ailing team lost Warnock, Hamman and Morientes by the end of the first half. I thought his intricate plan has been blown to pieces, it was indeed remarkable how Liverpool surpassed expectations to bulge the net twice without reply. We certainly engulf Moyes's Toffeemen right from the start.

It wasn't pretty and aesthetic. It was the Merseyside derby, where the form book and fancy football goes out of the window. In Liverpool's example, it was a case of who dares win. And they did.
