Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby andy_g » Thu Dec 23, 2004 3:39 pm

ahem, ladies and gentlemen... back to the goals, hmmm?

haven't got it together to list my top 10, but seeing johnnymacs compilation of clips makes we realise how many 30 yard screamers we've scored this season. anyone got the stats on how many we've scored from outside the box?

for me its the same 5 but different order:

1. mellor v arsenal
2. gerrard v olympiacos
3. alonso v arsenal
4. garcia v charlton
5. baros v WBA

the top 2 are there because they were great goals that also achieved great wins.

quite surprised actually.

i know Gerad v Olymp. and Mellor v Arsenal were good goals for other reasons, but i think Gerrard's agianst Portsmouth was the best strike i've seen at goal in a long time.
technically brilliant and in off the post, i swear that shot must have been going 100mph.

i think this si the best personally, if you dont include how great the "moment" was.
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

id go for Neil Mellor (v Arsenal), not just because of the strike, but because of what it acheived and that the time he chose to do it in, what a moment!

Every red goal is special. But i have to go for the Gerrard v Olympiakos strike - under so much pressure.

Tell you what, if Baros would have scored that overhead scissor kick in the last few minutes of the Newcastle game, it would be no contest.  Would have been goal of the season.

I was in the Anny Road, boss position and I thought it was in.  Alas....
