Looks very good for the youth team and Anderson looks like a gem for the future.

I can see a few of the playing some league cup games next season and will be good to see them shine and become first team players

And to see Rafa and half the first team watching was great too.
Promising signs for the future indeed , and these young lads showed real pride and passion in wearing the red of Liverpool.. :buttrock

RESERVES CELEBRATE FIRST WIN

Steve Hunter 01 November 2006

Goals from Paul Anderson and Besian Idrizaj gave Gary Ablett his first win in charge of Liverpool reserves as the Reds won 2-0 at Wigan on Wednesday evening.
It was a thoroughly deserved victory as Liverpool played some enterprising pass and move football to warm up the crowd on a freezing night at Robins Park Arena.

David Mannix and Danny Guthrie laid the foundations for victory with some eye catching displays in midfield while Idrizaj was a lively figure in attack.

After Guthrie had gone close with an audacious chip, Liverpool opened the scoring after 33 minutes. Craig Lindfield released Idrizaj down the left side and the Austrian under-21 international deceived two defenders before laying the ball back to Anderson whose finish was clinical, giving Russell Saunders no chance in the Wigan goal.

Liverpool sealed the three points six minutes after the restart when Idrizaj scored a deserved second goal. Again Lindfield was the provider with a precise pass and the Austrian powered his way into the penalty area to score at the second attempt after Saunders had saved his first effort.

Such was their dominance, the Reds might have added to their lead but a combination of good goalkeeping and near misses ensured it remained 2-0.

After losing his first four games in charge of Liverpool's second string, Ablett will have been delighted with the manner of his side's performance.

Liverpoolfc.tv Man of the match: Godwin Antwi: A rock solid figure throughout.
