The rafalution gradually coming together

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ciggy » Thu Apr 07, 2005 9:28 pm

Isnt it fantastic being a Liverpool fan, I cannot begin to describe how happy I was on last tuesday night and so so proud of everyone of our players.  And as for our manager well what can I say other than he is a genious tactition and he he pure class, from the minute he arrived we knew he was not going to have any messing round shipping out Danny Murphy, Diouf, Cheyrou, le Tallec you fool you should have stayed put but youve learned your lesson you little gem on tuesday ya.

Rafa going to Portugal to sit down and talk with Steven and Michael about staying with the club, imagine when he went over there they basically didnt know him from adam, his english wasnt so good hes begging 2 players to stay at the club before us even playing a game of football under him, you got to admire him.

Bringing players of quality to liverpool morientes, Xabi Alonso wouldnt even go to Real or Manure, but he came to us because of Rafa, our little gem Luis Garcia idolises barca Rafa begged him to come to Liverpool we even payed the buy out clause, hes been a fantastic addition to our team something we have been missing for a long long time.

Whats very exciting to see is goals coming from our midfield and a cracker from sammi on tuesday, even Traore and Finnans scored this season, and things will only get better exciting times ahead I cant wait.

Weve given Traore and Igor some sh.it in the past if we seen them coming on as subs or starting a game we would fear the worst and think oh nooooooooooo where gona get beat. Ok  traores no Ashley Cole but at the same time hes put some fantastic tackles in to save our @rses at some point this season, you have to give him credit hes come on leaps and bounds this season and Im sure the likes of Gerrard, riise sammi and Carra can see hes twice the player this season as hes ever been, whether youll be here or not next season I dont know but thanx alot.

You have to feel a bit sorry for Igor though cause it was Houlliers fault for playing him out of position, and in hindsight the lads confidence must have been zilch he must have hated being at our club. What a turn around hey :D  I dont know if he will go or not but thanx for this season igor youve helped us alot knowing your 4th in the pecking order.

I can see most of the loan players being gone permanently come the end of the season and surplus requirements e.g. Smicer, Mellor, Diouf, Cheyrou, kewell and no doubt some reserves will be gone off the wage bill.

And I think we will see about 5 new faces maybe 3 top class signings, if we want to be competing with the best rafa needs to be given substancial transfer funds, qualifying for the Champions League next season is a must just look how happy we are, imagine how happy the players are and the confidence they must have now beating one of the best teams in europe, they cannot want to miss out on this experience next season, you dont get many chances like this in a short football career, they must be over the moon.

Now next wednesday can they live up to the expectation and Knocking juve out?  i for one certainly hope so but i dont know if it will be a game to far, they will have to play out there skins, they will have to put every single bit of passion determination and pride into pulling this one off.
I really hope we can do it, they wont have our fans help next wednesday and its going to be probably one of the most hostile grounds they will ever step foot on.
can they do it without the fields of annie road, and Ra ra rafa benitez belting out from the fans, cause all its going to be is flairs, bang, boom, booooooooooooos, a small minority of Liverpool fans which wont be heard, in the mayhem of the Del Alpi.

Come on lads do us proud get us to the semis your only 90 minutes from the semis you can do it, keep the momentum lets go to city on saturday and get a result i dont care 1-0, overtake the BS cause once there off that 4th perch they wont get it back.

We have the pedigree and quality for europe its the history of our famous club, people critise us saying we live on past glories well f@ck me past glories feel bloody good, and we want more, how can you not want more of the famous european anfield nights? they are amazing nobody and I mean no body does it better, our fans are a credit to our club they where amazing on tuesday, and have been on many occasions in the past, I am so proud of them all.

Stamford bridge last night not a patch on anfield,  ok they have better players and more money than soft joe, but it proves money cant buy you love, and I love liverpool with all my heart, Theres not many teams in the world that have the opportunity to experience what is such a special atmosphere like we have at ours, and I would envy that if I was a supporter of onother club, but we have had alot of praise from the gooners, the geordies most clubs in europe TBH have praised us for tuesday night.

I was lying awake last night worried about our fans next wednesday and probably wont sleep much all week, till its over with roll on thursday hey when we will either be absolutly made up, and over the moon or on a big fat downer, lets hope we hold this momentum for the future of things to come, great times ahead with a fantastic manager, fantastic players, and the best club in the world.

CMON U MIGHTY REDS OF EUROPE WE CAN DO IT AGAIN.

You'll Never Walk Alone!
Rafa is doing well, especially when you consider the ******-load of injuries this year. 3 or 4 top class transfers, loose some dead weight, and next year we will be truly competitive.
Form is temporary.......Class is permanent

Top post of the last few weeks Lynds without any question. Brilliant.
Totally agree about Igor, being told you were a gonner at Christmas must have been deflating but he's kept going and done a fantastic job. The cynic in me says give him a three year deal anyhow, because even if you can't use him, my suspicion is that somebody in Europe would pay a couple of mill' for him if he was under contract. Sort of a no lose gamble really, as long as we get the terms right.

This is only the begining, believe me, Benitez work is progressive and very very effective and i'm sure that in two years Liverpool will be fighting for the premier and for the champions against everybody who face us. As Valencia fan here in Spain i've seen Rafa's method growing day by day.

I swear that if we eliminate Juve i will go out with my old mcmanaman shirt around my city shouting Liveerpol to Istambul!! jajajaja

Quality post that, just been thinking to what the forum was like this time last year and the contrast couldnt have been any different, there was nothin but bad posts critising the manager, the players and anything in general really, people were just comin on to the forum to have a go and i even remember some people saying that we would be better off finishing 5th so houllier would defo go and wondering if we could keep hold of are top players.....Could we have been more negative? But just 12 months on and the optimisim around the club is just unbelievable and CGGY couldnt have summed it up better, i hope we do get through next week and are supporters do get home safe, but there is one thing we all know is a certainty, everyone of those players will be giving everything they have got and they know everyone who was at the game on tuesday or either watching it anywhere in the world will be behind them......12 months ago we were going through a storm but as the great song says at the end of the storm is a golden sky and it in rafa benitez it is getting closer and closer.

Cheers Cissy youve put a big fat smile on my face for the rest of the day even though im in work!!!

Too be fair though with the finish 5th for the best stuff.

Full credit to the board, they saw we needed a change and they made the change even though houllier had achieved his goal (as low as it was).

And they definately made the right choice with Rafa

Thanx gang for the nice responses and the marrige proposal from leon :D
But Im not finished yet.
None of us are under any dissalution this season weve had more downs than ups, some poor results.
Upteen injuries escpecially to our most epensive players, Cisse 14 million, Xabi Alonso 10 million, Steven Gerrard worth 30 million injured at some point in the season, fernando morientes when fit worth 15 million, add all the others injured to that list Luis hamstring, Didi groin, your talking around the amount of 60 million pounds worth of players injured.

So when you look at it this way you can see why we have lacked consistancy.

Add to the fact our 2 strikers from last season are no longer with us Owen and Heskey, so for the first few months of the season our players where hitting the ball up looking for these 2 to score, only to think erm hang on a minute where the f@ck are they  ???

Gerrards link up play from midfield to Owen was superb the little taster we had of Owen and cisse in America pre season was brilliant, when we battered celtic 5-1 I think it was and we where really looking forward to what was going to be install for us this season Cisse and Owen partnership.

Only it was not meant to be ,  that fateful night michael Owen sat on the bench for the CL qualifiers was gut wrenching to see he was no longer a Liverpool player.

Now onto Steven gerrard I am 99% confident he will stay I mean lets face it with 40 thousand of the anfield faithfull singing,
STEVE GERRARD, GERRARD,
To the tune of Doris Days Que Sara Sara,
And certainly a bit of irony behind that tune what will be will be, the futures not ours to see.

But Ive got a feeling this scouser is going to have a very successful future at liverpool as our captain. He wont get 40 odd thousand fans at another club worshipping like the anfield faithful do and he knows it, and no amount of money can buy that.

Rafas said he wants to build a team around him after all he is the clog of the engine room, and him and xabi Alonso 2 of the best young midfielders the world has to offer.

Ask the BS since they lost tommy gravesson, Ask the mancs since they lost beckham and an ageing Roy keane,
Ask the gunners about patrick Viera since Madrid came knocking last season hes been a former shadow of the player we know he once, was and probably still is only hes looking for pastures new.

All I am saying is we need him to stay at the heart of this Liverpool team, to see the rafalution progress greater and reach the highs we all wish to see as Liverpool fans.

Rumours of Baraja and Aimar coming and baros going in the opposit direction, let them come more quality coming in the better, squad rotation for the midfield.
If we are to be competeing on all 4 fronts CL,CC, FA, cup. The prem, we are going to need quality players that we can trust will do the job for us when the other are being rested.

Add to this everything considering that Rafa hasnt even been with us for a year yet, we are 5th tomorrow could be 4th in the league, we are 90 mins away from a semi final in the Champions League.

He walks into a bar and mingles with our fans in Germany he must have been amazed at the passion from the fans so close by, singin Rafa get the ale in  lol must have been brilliant to be there, to us Liverpool fans it would be like GOD just walked into the bar.

What a man sort of a spanish Shankley, one of my favourite quotes from the great man was.

"My idea was to build Liverpool into a bastion of invincibility. Napoleon had that idea. He wanted to conquer the bloody world. I wanted Liverpool to be untouchable. My idea was to build Liverpool up and up until eventually everyone would have to submit and give in."

I think Rafa will have some of that

"Mi idea debía construir Liverpool en un bastión de invencibilidad. Napoleon tuvo esa idea. El quiso conquistar el mundo sangriento. Quise que Liverpool fuera intocable. Mi idea debía construir Liverpool arriba y arriba hasta que eventualmente todos tengan que someterse y tener que rendirse."

So Ill bring this chapter of the rafalution to a close now, with more to follow, most of you will be asleep by now anyway reading all this.
Just think of the future we have install for us, in the mean time fellow reds around the world remember this.

THE FUTURES RED THE FUTURES BRIGHT AND THE RAFALUTION IS ONLY JUST BEGINNING. YNWA.

After what happened tuesday nite lynds it's obvious to me that the Rafalution is for real and the great sparniard is the greatest thing to happen to us in dozens of years.

Lets face it the squad we lined up infront of the kop was in no way comparable to the Juventus line up. I mean the likes of Carson, Nunez, and Le Tallec are hardly veteran European campaigners are they?

Carragher, Garcia and Riise have all had great seasons. Let Lyon and Milan go to hell, weve played the best football in the champion's league this season. If we've got this far with a depleted squad imagine next season when weve settled, have a fit squad, and have signed one or two star players (it is obvious by now that Stevie wonder is not leaving us).

We have very tough matches coming up, Man City , Spurs and Boro. we should win these three and get 4th place.

AS FOR THE SECOND LEG IN TURIN..... LET OUR AMBASSADORS REMEMBER THE GAMES AGAINST ARSENAL, OLYMPIAKOS, NEWCASTLE (home), AND THE FIRST LEG. SURELY THEY DON'T NEED ANYMORE INSPIRATION.

WE ARE THE GREATEST TEAM IN THE WORLD AND HAVE THE GREATEST FANS
