RAFA: ROBBIE CAN TAKE US TO A NEW LEVEL
Paul Rogers 27 January 2006
Rafael Benitez has spoken with delight about the signing of Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler and admitted that he's never seen a player happier to join a club.
Speaking at Anfield on Friday night, Benitez told liverpoolfc.tv: "My idea is for Liverpool to take one step forward and I think Robbie can help us make that step.

"We have signed a player with so much passion for this football club and I think he will act as an example to every player here in how much he loves Liverpool.

"It is a boost for the team, a boost for the supporters and a boost for Robbie himself. I'm not sure I've ever seen a player quite so happy to be joining a club before.

"I think it's a signing that will lift everyone who loves Liverpool Football Club because Robbie is a great finisher who can help us reach a new level.

"He hasn't been signed because he loves the club; he's been signed because he's one of the best goalscorers ever to play in the Premiership and he can score goals for us right now. He's got a wealth of experience and he gives us more attacking options. He's a different kind of striker to what we have at the club and that is good for the team.

"People can talk about having a lot of money to buy players but we've just signed a player with a passion and a heart for this club that no amount of money can buy. We are close to a very high level right now but with Robbie we can go even higher."

Come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Kromkamp is definately Number 2.

Big respect to Stuart Pearce, thanx phycho. Robbie cant play against City when we play them at anfield and he is on the front cover of the City program tommorrow against Wigan.

PEARCE: I COULDN'T STAND IN ROBBIE'S WAY
Mark Platt 27 January 2006
Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce has explained how he couldn't stand in the way of Robbie Fowler's dream return to Liverpool.
Speaking shortly after Fowler completed his free transfer to the Reds, Pearce admitted there was no way in the world he could have kept the striker at City given the circumstances and wished him the best of luck on his sensational move.

"Liverpool are his dream club and he wanted to leave and rejoin them," said Pearce. "If I refused him this opportunity of fulfilling his ambition it would not be good for him or Manchester City. We wish him well for the future and thank him for his efforts."
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

From Liverpoolfc.tv

Welcome home Robbie...

Thank-you.

Can you describe your emotions right now?

If I'm honest, no, because it hasn't sunk in yet. Just to travel back to Anfield was great and to actually get into the office and obviously put pen to paper was something that I have wanted to happen for a long time.

Walking through the door again and walking up the steps it must feel great to be back?

Honest to God, I'm so happy it's frightening! I'm just so chuffed - that's all I can say.

When you left that day to join Leeds, there were pictures of you in the car and you looked very sad. Did you ever think at that moment that you would get the chance to play for Liverpool again?

Probably if I'm honest, no. Obviously since I have left, deep down I have always wanted to come back and it has been a long time but I'm glad to say I'm back now.

In your book you talked about 'unfinished business' at Anfield and you'd like to come back. You didn't really get a chance to say good-bye to the fans when you left and now you are going to be saying hello again...

Yeah, that was probably one of my biggest regrets in football. The fact is when I did leave I played against Sunderland and I got taken off at half-time and I never got a proper chance to say good-bye. It will be nice to get back out at Anfield wearing the red shirt again. Just to walk back out the tunnel will be amazing.

Has your phone stopped ringing yet?

I've hadit switched off to be honest! I think I will probably have at least 100 messages!

You've obviously enjoyed your time at Manchester City and at Leeds but you never stopped loving Liverpool, did you?

"It has always been a club close to my heart. I grew up supporting the other side but ever since I came to Liverpool when I was 11, I grew very close to everyone involved with the club. You put on the red shirt again and it's just an amazing feeling and I'm glad I'm going to get that opportunity again."

The move has come around very quickly and it seems to have happened at a very fast pace. Stuart Pearce has been very helpful in making this happen, hasn't he?

"Yeah, he has been very, very good. When I was aware of a little bit of interest from Liverpool, I wanted it to happen more than anyone and Stuart Pearce was very good. He could understand where I was coming from and he did help me getting back to Liverpool."

Rick Parry and Rafael Benitez have put in the work to get you here. How much are you looking forward to playing in Rafa Benitez's new-look Liverpool team?

"Well, obviously I haven't played under him before and results within the past year have been fantastic. I've heard nothing but good reports from everyone involved in the club - from players to supporters. It's something I am excited about."

Rafa said earlier that your love for the club and your passion for Liverpool will work as a boost for the rest of the players in the squad at the moment. Do you think that will be the case.

"Well, I hope so. Like I said before, this club is close to my heart and if I can help in any way in bringing the best out of any players then great."

A possible debut or at least you might be on the bench on Wednesday against Birmingham. I that something you are looking forward to?

Well you never know what will happen - that's not my decision but it would be nice.

What will it feel like to run out in front of the Kop as a Liverpool player again?

Honest to God, I'm chuffed to bits. I mean, I can't really believe it's happened again so I'm ecstatic to be honest."

God is home :)  :)  :)
