Could be worse could have been James Mc Fadden then robbie would be worried :D .
Anyone noticed how good Robbie looks his face seems like he's had a ton of weight lifted of his mind.
Everytime I seen him in a City shirt he always looked scruffy and spotty, but in the interview he looks spotless and like a different person.

First post, and the subject matter could not pass without comment.
I don't know the circumstances of Robbies departure as am in Australia and no access to Internet for a long time there, but needless to say I was gutted! Being an unwavering fan though I accepted that it was for the best.
All those games I saw him play for other unremarkable clubs I could only think of what we were missing out on.
Now he's back and words cannot describe the feelings at the moment - relief and ecstacy would be a couple though.
Welcome back Robbie - do us Proud (The FA Cup against United would be good, but the lads will do us a favour anyway)

Awww Emile didnt want to leave either.

HESKEY: I'M SO PLEASED FOR HIM
By Darren Lewis
EMILE HESKEY has backed Robbie Fowler to win the contract that will keep him at Liverpool beyond this summer.

The Birmingham striker lines up against his ex-team-mate tomorrow night knowing all about the pain of leaving Anfield.

Heskey was shipped out to Birmingham two years ago by former boss Gerard Houllier but insists it will be great to see his former team-mate back in a Liverpool shirt.

He said: "I am just happy he is there and I wish him all the best. I really hope he wins the contract he wants to get because Robbie is Liverpool through and through. He is almost a figurehead at that club.

"I think he will end up staying there now. He has still got a lot to offer and the advantage for him is he has got a manager that has brought the best out of a lot of players.

"I am sure the manager there could get the best out of Robbie again."

Like Fowler, Heskey moved on after finding his first-team chances at Anfield limited.

He added: "Liverpool is a club you really don't want to have to leave.

"Sometimes you might have to in order to get regular games but it would have been a different for Robbie because, having grown up there, it would have been massive for him being told to move on."

Heskey revealed that, despite only spending one season in the same team as Fowler, he is still grateful for the help and advice he received from the 30-year-old star.

He said: "Robbie is a very approachable guy. He will give you advice whenever. At the club he was brilliant for a lot of people.

"Not only for me when I went there but for a lot of people. He was a big role model and as captain he was brilliant for us. That's when we had the best times.

"People on Merseyside love him. He has done brilliantly for himself and the club and I know it will mean the world to him to go back."

Yeah, the only difference between Heskey and Fowler is that Fowler is scouse. That and fowler doesn't think goal is a charity.

Fox sports I wish - my football viewing pleasure is limited to the highlights on the news (30 secnds worth) and the odd match down at the pub! Regardless I'll be eagerly anticipating Robbies return hopefully on Wednesday - will he be eligible for CL matches?
You are right on the money Ciggy, at ManC, he was looking a bit overweight to say the least, maybe its just the shirt or something.

Welcoming God Back Into Our Hearts...
Monday January 30 2006
By Darren Phillips

In just over six months Rafa Benitez has reunited Liverpool with two old and extremely well-loved friends who have spent long periods away from Anfield - the European Cup and Robbie Fowler.

The latter was probably more of a shock than coming back from 3-0 down in Istanbul last May on an unforgettable night Robbie attended as a supporter and celebrated as much as any player or fan - though no doubt wondering what could have been had he never left.

City had fielded a number of enquiries through most of January which could have netted the club a few quid and Robbie would still be able to supplement his rental income with a more-than-handsome salary.

Championship as well as top-flight clubs such as Bolton, Everton and Wigan Athletic all registered an interest but received little encouragement. Robbie was felt more suited to do a job for a mid or lower-table Premiership side but with little to offer a team pushing for honours or with Champions League ambitions.

The truth of that assumption will be tested over the next three-and-a-bit months.

Essentially there is little to be lost from this deal for either club or player but everything to gain. Liverpool have acquired a player brought through the ranks then sold for the thick end of £12 million for nothing more than six months' wages which, while substantial, are far from extravagant at a rumoured £20,000 a week and probably more incentive-led than resting on a large basic plus win and goal bonuses.

Robbie has seen his stock fail drastically in the past four years. Out of the picture through injuries and a lack of form that can often follow, he lost his England place and found himself third or fourth choice at Eastlands with only 61 minutes of first-team football plus a start against Scunthorpe United in the FA Cup under his belt this season.

Over the past couple of decades Liverpool fans have been spoiled by the sheer quality of strikers the club has been able to field, not to mention the goals they have scored. However, in terms of finishing, none have been more natural or scored as many different types of goals as Fowler - and his promise was obvious from an early age.

During the early 1990s, along with another few hundred people who regularly attended reserve games, I observed the progress of nothing more than a scrap of a lad defenders just had no answer to. It may only have been for the second string but he was coming up against players at a similar age with great promise or older pros who boasted vast experience and leaving both in his wake.

His progression to the first team was inevitable, where he continued to rely on his skill and instinct to score goals of all types against all manner of opposition. In his first year alone he scored on debut, hit five in a game against Fulham and a hat-trick in his fifth league game against Southampton. Arsenal were left stunned by the quickest treble in Premiership history with all three goals coming in just four-and-a-half minutes.

Though he was never the quickest across the ground, his feet and brain were like lightning which gave him space to exploit few others could have found. Consequently a lack of any pace he may once have had should make little difference as instinct and reaction still seem to remain.

His fitness and weight has been an open matter of debate for the best part of a year and his form has unquestionably suffered. At 30 years of age he may have to work that bit harder to keep in his best shape, but it is an issue Robbie himself has addressed over the course of this season, training with the youth squad as well as the first team. If recent weeks are anything to go by, the work has paid off and helped pave the way for his Anfield return.

Another key thing is that Robbie fits well in to Rafa's style. All too often frustration with Djibril Cisse stems from an inability to retain the ball or waste good possession before his teammates have a chance to get up in support. He then seems to throw his hands in the air berating others and doesn't seem to settle back into his game for a while after. Sometimes that composure never returns and with apparent problems off the pitch you can only wonder how his game will be affected.

The Liverpool system, amongst other things, relies on providing the defence with a chance to reorganise then support the attack or regroup should the ball be lost.

Should Robbie recapture anything like the form of his first spell a new contract - probably a 12-month deal with an option to renew - will be on the table and gratefully accepted by a player who has nothing but desire plus an enthusiasm to please the fans and the manager. If he doesn't, he will leave with everyone's best wishes, able to take his pick of suitors who will not be dissuaded in registering their interest.

Of course his recent fitness makes the transfer a gamble of sorts, but his knee and hip problems will have been fully evaluated during his medical. From now on, everything is on the player, with the club taking virtually no risk on a striker who provides a goal threat that has been missing all season and is eligible for the Champions League. This seems a good bit of business for both parties.
