Great article, made me laugh and reminded me one of greatest atmospheres we had at Anfield last season.

Maybe next time Chelsea should try showing a bit more respect and not just listen to their own hype .

"But the Liverpool fans that night were amazing. I have never heard anything like it before and I don't think I ever will again.

"I walked out into that cauldron and heard that singing and saw that passion. The hairs on my arms were standing up. Even when they scored so early through Luis Garcia there was plenty of time.

I like this quote, and reading that gave me a lot of respect for John Terry as a man, not only as a footballer. The guy is clearly a really committed footballer and it's no wonder he's the captain and a fan's favourite Chelsea.

Have to say I like Terry.  Apart from being a top player, he always seems to handle the press well, and I think the comments he makes here about the semi are fair enough.  It must have been hard for him to go up to Gerrard and Carra after the game and say 'go lift it'.  Could you have pictured Roy Keane saying that if it was Utd we beat??  Not a chance, Terry deserves a bit of respect for that.

As for Mourinho writing '33' on the board, I think that was quite a good idea, a good way of settling his team's nerves and giving them confidence.  But as Terry as much as said, it didn't matter how Mourinho prepared them, because they did not expect that atmosphere, and that's what beat them in the end.

What to like about him? after the semi-final an Anfield he said that the Anfield atmosphere didn't compare to Stamford bridge. What bollo.x that even Mourinho acknowledged.

Sorry mate disagree totally.
Not about Terry being a great player but the fact Mourinho writing the 33 on the board will give his team confidence.
They must of been confident anyway, he should imo of tried to make sure they were not complacent.
While the crowd were obviously a massive factor in the result, over confidence i think also helped swing things our way.

Fair enough mate

IMO although Mourinho came across as over-confident on the night and arrogant in his post-match interview, his team looked quite nervous on the night to me.  This was shown by their poor start, culminating in our early goal that rocked them even more.

I think Mourinho knew his players were nervous which is why he wrote that on the board.  I don't think it was a bad idea, but I'm happy it didn't work.

Although Mourinho always seems super-confident and he tries to convey this to his team, they are not machines, and I don't believe for 1 minute that they weren't creaming themselves before the game that night.

Such a satisfying victory :nod

Well, you, me and everyone else knows that, but what exactly is he supposed to say?  He's their club captain after all.  He can't come out and say Liverpool fans are the best FFS

Yeah the big fat 5 on the wall would be a great idea!!And about 15 boxes of kleenex too!
In fairness to Terry though it's a really honest interveiw.

Did anyone else notice something in the langauge Sven used when asked about his WC team.  He said something like "I know what my best XI would be, if all the players have a season this time like last time."  A bit hint that Carra/Terry could be the partnership I think.

The interview is honest, and although Terry is the only Che$ki player I respect he comes across as a cocky git. "No way will we lose this game tonight, I thought."  Didn't learn from last year eh?  Perhaps one of the biggest shortcomings of a person is thier inability to tone down thier arrogance in the face of evidence that they should not be so confident.  They only won the Carling Cup because of an own goal - and were outclassed at Anfield on New Years Day.  Don't believe your own team's hype.

i like john terry, he`s a 100%-er and although he hasnt all the natural gifts like pace he makes up for it in commitment and reading of the game. the only thing seperating him and carragher are different regional accents because they`re like two peas out of the same pod to me.
he comes across as a genuine lad and it was typical of his character even though he was practically in tears to go over to gerrard and carragher and wish them all the best. especially if you take the wild celebrations going on all around him into account.
i`ve been to goodison derby`s where they have won and when all their fans are going nuts at the final whistle you just feel so sick inside its untrue, you just want to get home and switch off the telly and radio and not read a newspaper ever again. i consider myself quite a sport but no matter how fair you are it still takes a while compose yourself. terry must have felt these same things but a hundred times worse so to stay on the pitch amid those scene`s and congratulate our players took some guts.
