Taxi for Torres - judas fecks off to chelsea

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

You guys read this?

A Liverpool player has labelled the Prozone stats of Chelsea target Fernando Torres as “laughable” and accused the want-away striker of playing for himself, according to the Daily Mail.

In a week in which Torres demanded the route be cleared for his Anfield exit, the un-named player also said the personality of the World Cup winner sometimes raised eyebrows at the training ground.

The source told the paper: “His efforts for the team this season under Roy Hodgson made everyone notice.

“His Prozone stats for some games were laughable for a Premier League striker.”

Torres, who reached the 50 goal mark in just 72 games for Liverpool, was forgiven for his selfishness as a result of his undoubted ability, according to the source.

“On the pitch he'd definitely play for himself rather than the team," the source said.

“Even the real pros like Stevie Gerrard and Jamie Carragher noticed it but when Torres is on top form you'd forgive him anything.”

The report goes on to say that Torres is self-absorbed and not loved by his team-mates in the same way compatriot Pepe Reina is.

“He has always been a complex character," the unnamed player added. "He is so naturally gifted he's always been totally self-absorbed.

“For the first year we'd put his quietness down to a lack of fluent English, but then he'd come out with something word perfect, which made you realise he understood what was going on all the time.

“He has always been admired by his team-mates, but not loved. He hasn't endeared himself in the way that Pepe Reina has, for example.”

The 26-year-old submitted a transfer request on Friday evening and is expected to complete a move away from Anfield by Monday if the Reds can thrash out a deal with Chelsea.

Lol...? Well it may be true but it's not a way how a Liverpool player should talk for a (former) teamate IMO. The link is from goal.com so idk how reliable it is... then again their source is the Daily Mail.

Whats getting to me most is the way he's gone about it, making it blatantly obvious he wants out when the club is struggling, it just shows what the club actually means to him.
He's destroying the reputation he's made for himself over the last 3 and a half years, even if he were to stay now it would never feel the same.
He can never be one of those players who come to see the team after he retires, could he? He won't go down with the likes of rush, dalglish, barnes etc. He'll be thrown in with the likes of michael owen and steve mcmanaman in my head anyway. i just wish he had a bit more class and heart about him...

Hope you're sure about what your doing son

So it turns out, that his body language when he plays of not giving a shit turned out to be true after all? Get rid. Even if we get £40 million for him, it is well above what he is worth, as chelsea will soon find out. He WAS a class player, he hasnt shone for a long time now, injuries have took there toll. I honestly think his best years are behind him. Look at spain during the world cup. Some of the best players in the world and even then he didnt perform. We are Liverpool, we move on.

If he turns on the form of 2008 on at Chelsea I'll be even more gutted. I'd like to wish him the best but I can't. I sincerely hopes he flops there.

Agreed.

How can he stay now. Bridges have been burnt. He has to go or we are in for an awkward few months

exactly DD. There's nothing there now from him to us or vice versa. He's shown our adoration means nothing. I read someone say in the thread that we could keep him and start a bidding war, with a £50m clause, that won't happen.

Just feck off to the rentboys Torres, it's where you belong

His image and reputation is in tatters, absolutely no way he can stay now. He better hope uncle roman is feeling thrifty tomorrow. I know some here would love a u turn but he's already shown his true colours. Wouldn't be the same. Would be like a husband giving his cheating wife another go. Deep down when you look at them you'll know they tried to fk you over.

Just remember what happened when Owen left. We will be back on our perch soon looking down on Torres and rest of the scum.

It kind of reminds me of the Owen move to Real Madrid.  New manager comes in, player wants out without giving the system a chance.  I thought we would miss Owen but we won the Champs league, and he won fuk'all @RM.  This one hurts a little more because Torres waited until the last minute to spring it on us and there's very little time to put plans in action for a new players.  What are we going to do in the Europa League FFS, N'gog's the only striker registered for the competition if this deal gets done.

it'll be Kuyt. Do you not re-register players after the group stage or something? I thought there'd be something in place for the transfer windows thats all
