Taxi for Torres - judas fecks off to chelsea

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I note that some posters are alluding to forum members "doubting" Torres, and I'm not sure that's accurate. I've said many times that I thinkhe's the best striker we've ever had, which is hardly doubting him, but it was also pretty clear that earlier in the season he wasn't doing a tap. Whether that's his fault, Roy's fault, my fault or nobodies fault is of course open to debate, but the fact he wasn't doing it was pretty clear I think.

Once he put the effort in (and obviously once we played a bit better too), then his obvious quality shines through. I'm still not 100% convinced he is happy and committed to the cause, but if he is anywhere near his best he obviously makes a huge difference to us.

I think he will be happier once we get in some new faces in the next transfer window, and not just faces to make up the numbers either. Quality players.

Yes it is hard to imagine him getting overly excited about the signings of players such as Jovanovic and Aquilani. I share your hope that when it comes to buying players in the future, we seek out better options.

Jovanovich was a freeby and at the time we were not even getting to spend what we made from sales, it was all going on the debt. Aquilani was a top player who was shipped out too early.

And he is proving it this season too. He pass success rate was 97% yesterday (70/74) and since he has been staring Juve have been undefeated. 322 out of 353 passes. But your gonna say he didn't do fk all for us right?  Ok he was trying to overcome a long term injury but in his last season for us he set up a goal every 136 minutes - the best assist rate in the top five leagues in Europe in 2009-10.

Helps to get your facts straight mate.  :rasp

:D Yeah aside from Meireles his signings have been poor. Well ok Jonjo and Wilson are decent players but he didn't really sign them.

Agree with Mick that Torres is possibly the best striker we ever had... I personally believe he is better than Owen and God ( and this is something because Owen was my fav player for a long time). The only one he's up against is Rush. He hasn't reached there yet because he hasn't scored that many goals and hasn't tasted success with the club yet, but he has the potential definitely...

Think I said last week we should sell him...

...think I'll suggest that more often after the Chelsea performance!

He probably just wants to get away from Roy.  :D

Liverpool have confirmed Fernando Torres sustained an ankle ligament strain during Saturday's clash with Stoke City - but the striker will still join up with the Spain squad for their international with Portugal.

So why is he still going with the Spain squad? He isn't going to play surely? He should be seeing the club specialist.
