Well you didn't get the money.

But you are laughing a lot  :D , either way it's something positive.

Raj: I said a lot of things about Torres.

* That we needed a world class striker and Torres numbers hadn't been anywhere near close to world class numbers.

* That he was the only and official penalty taker in Atletico, and that granted 4-5 goals a season to make his numbers seem more decent.

* That meanwhile Atletico had been making a team around Torres they never managed to get to UEFA places.

* That I had seen him with not the proper attitude when his team was down.

* That  too often he stayed in the ground moaning when he was tackled consistently. I couldn't see him adapting to this league with more contact.

Among many other things that are perfectly true and exactly what I saw. I didn't want you lot to have yet another dissapointment and most of people were excited about the signing up. But despite all that was true, I learned the lesson you can't predict about the impact in another league. You cannot predict about how a player will answer in another team. Maybe I underrated the Liverpool spirit, and the ability of Torres of getting full of it.

I never expected him to succeed the way he has. I think it was Misty Red who back then asked why you lot should not ask and trust me every time a Spanish player is involved, as I'm just another fan. You know I said back that he was right, and time has proved him right :) . Curiously enough, he's not one of the posters taking the píss now!

I think quite a few people had their doubts Sabre (including me), for legitimate reasons that have been mentioned before.

I have to say though, because you're Spanish, you have to take the most stick considering the guy is f*cking awesome  :D

the stat about him only scoring two away league goals this year is troubling, I wonder if during his injury spells we mostly played away games or something, it seems like we have a pretty decent away record regardless. of our 7 away wins I think Torres only missed the everton game. and the only win that he scored in was against Derby, which we only won by a late winner from gerrard.

Sabre, in the interview, torres talks about how he doesn't want to be a one season wonder at liverpool, what exact words did he say in spanish?

I guess there are alot of factors involved which makes it very difficult to predict. And the factors are not just footballing factors alone... how he feels about playing for liverpool and what his state of mind is surely has alot of impact on a foreign footballer's impact on the team... if Liverpool didn't have that many spanish players already to make torres adapt to english football and life this easily and make him happy then he probably would've struggled alot more... so we can't just give credit to torres, we gotta give credit all those who made him very easy to settle in, including those already settled spanish old hands like reina and alonso.

I was very encouraged by the attitude he showed during the interview... he is at a point of life in his professional career where he believes he can step up to a higher level.... full of confidence, full of energy... and he seems to believe that he can achieve those higher successes at liverpool... so that's very encouraging...

Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

To the question "now the hearts of this people lay in your hands", "being the 9 the goalscorer". He answers exactly in his mild Madrid accent

"Mucha responsabilidad sí... pero con mucho gusto"
(A lot of responsabilty yes... but taken with great pleasure)

"Porque lo único que sientes (es) agradecimiento y ganas de que dure mucho mucho tiempo."
(Because the only thing you feel is gratitude, and you wish it lasts a lot a lot of time). (Sometimes in Spanish you repeat mucho to stress it).

"Y no ser un jugador de una temporada, o hacer una buena temporada y ya está, ¿no?

(And not to be a one season wonder, or making a good season and that's it, no?)

"Lo que quieres es que pasen muchas temporadas, y te puedan recordar como les recuerdan a otros"

(What you want is to last a lot of seasons, and that they (the crowd) might remember you as they remember others)

Amazing to think that the guy's the first Liverpool player to hit 20 League goals since Robbie Fowler in 1995/96.

It's clear to me that the guy is flourishing from having other leaders around him in the team. When he was at Athletico, he was thrown in at the first team at 17, was captain at 19 and had to shoulder all the responsibility. Here he's clearly playing with a freedom, a smile on his face and is consequently producing the best football of his career.

I agree that and it's a sign that Torres has landed in a club that had been building something these years. Torres triumphing in England talks volumes about the lad (and bad things about my prediction ability :D), but it talks volumes aswell about our bosses in the dressroom (Carra, Gerrard) and the team as a whole.

ANother great goal created by gerrard and a good header right in the bottom corner , he has hit 20 goals this season and is the first player since robbie , hopes he scores 25 in the league to beat the record for most goals in the league scored by a foreign player in his debut season , the last was van nisterooy with 24 goals in the league

Quote from Sabre about Torres: June 27 2007,11:48

He's a good player, but he's not a 25M pounds player.

My concern is that you lot will be dissapointed. He has the pace, the dribling and the skill, but he hasn't the finishing. And since in Liverpool the team won't work for him unlike in Atletico, I cannot be too optimistic.

If Bellamy did the role of the pacy striker, then with Torres we've won a lot in comparison.

But if you lot are expecting the striker that will score the goals that Kuyt the orange international, or Morientes the Spanish international hasn't scored, then I'm afraid you'll be dissapointed.

sabre, he worked for Atletico, he did his job and the job of many partners, that "Atletico worked for him" is so false...
