.....  off Owen     you disloyal little toad    :veryangry

I love the analogy lad  :D
Seriously though i can see both sides to this....
a)He left,he didnt seem to care that he left or show any signs of love for the club and in particular us (the fans)
He doesnt fit into the style of play that Rafa wants.
Rafa does not want him due to the principle of how he left without giving him a chance.
b)He is a guaranteed 20 goal a season striker

Maybe i should put more in the b section about him bringing others into play and being a model professional and stuff, but Morientes brings others into play so does Crouch, while none of our strikers are exactly in the papers for the wrong reasons.

Would love to see him back, but can see rafas reasoning that its simply not an option now.
We need a RM and a CM back URGENTLY...do we actually NEED another striker ?

Come on have some loyalty, admittedly he betrayed us, but remember the years he was the best how many times did is goals get us out of trouble, in this team he could be a legend (again)

I have got plenty of loyalty towards the club, the word loyalty you used, wasn't used by Michael.
I have no animosity towards the lad, and know he would do a fine job and score goals anywhere, but at the end of the day he left, since then we have signed 2 other strikers and Cisse is also here.
We need other players in other positions, its as simple as that.

Well, since when as football been loyal (Except for the fans), if Owen scores 20 Plus then who gives a sh**t, where else are you going to get 20 plus goals from! GOALS win you games! and for only 12million!? He cost us nothing, we sell him for 8 million (forget Nunez), that effectively costs us 4 million!

But it depends how much money there is available, it may look like good business 4 million for a proven international.
But not when we have no cover at CB or when we dont have a right sided midfielder.
I would love Owen back, but we have got to be realistic, other areas are far weaker.

WE'd have to play Keegan tactics and if they score 3 we'll score 4, lol   :p

Just read on teletext, that according to the tv-station antena3 Figo flew out to Milan last evening, and therefore will not be joining Reals training camp in austria... looks like it is finally over now (was hoping for him, but getting tired of this saga to be honest)

That's right, I remember! It just want him to sign for SOMEONE soon, so we won't have to think about the old geezer anymore (sorry Luis, if you should by any chance do a surprise u-turn and join the mighty reds :grinning:) I just don't see too many alternatives  for the rw position; sure Joaquin would be a dream come true, but let's not kid ourselves, he is most likely out of our financial reach. Who do you guys know that could do a good job out there for reasonably money?

heard a quite good rumour today regarding the RM. If Milan Baros leaves which is almost certain, real betis have put a bid in for him with Liverpool's part of the deal is first option on Joaquin nxt summer as he wants to try champions league football at betis. Meanwhile Liverpool will tie up Figo for 1 million and Andrade for 6 million.

also heard i strong rumour from todays news that Michael Owen has been talking briefly to premiership clubs on a return, the thing that has come across is michael has said he is still going to austria with his team for training and will discuss till after this 2week training. This has pointed out that he is waiting for Milan to be sold and hopefully for Rafa to see that we do exactly need him but don't expect a money deal he has asked Real for a loan deal so that he can come back to his beloved reds.

if we do sell baros, we definately need another striker, with "pace" at that.
crouch/nando/cisse ent enough IMO.

Would love to see Andrade come to us, over the two legs against the toon he was awesome , i know he scored two great goals but his positional sense and commitment was great , Definately my choice for the new Centre Back. RM my idea would be push Ciise out there his pace and ability to cut inside would terrify defenders alsoo he crosses a mean ball, this would pave the way for Owen to return and have Crouch and Owen up front
