Gary Mac was a class player. Gutted we never tried to get him a few years sooner. If this guy has a similar effect on us ill be over the moon.

It depends on his fitness, mentality, how he looks in training etc..but Villa will go with Carew and/or Heskey so I think Rafa's likely plump for the Greek over the young Spaniard. It's that - experience, physicality, aerial presence - against getting undone by the pace and trickery of Young and Agbonlahor, but for me Ayala didn't look particularly pacey the other night (although it's very early days, I know) either. I'm assuming here that Kyrgiakos is quite slow - from the little I've seen - and especially prone to the 'nimble threat'.

Im pretty sure Rafa had the Villa game in mind when trying to get this signing rushed through, knowing what Carew and to a lesser extent Heskey bring to the table and the importance of having someone to win a fair amount of headers and physical battles against them. I shudder to think what a guy with the sheer presence of Carew could do to a young inexperienced defender like Ayala

I would love to have him in the squad, what an impact sub he would be, also great against park the bus teams.

I'll agree with you on that one, the guy is a class act and on his day close to unplayable. Great in the air, strong but with pace and the classic "great touch for a bigman" He would be a hell of a plan B for the Reds

I have a feeling in my water that if we really get behind this big man, he will sweat blood for us. By all accounts passion is one of his main attributes. When he feels the Anfield roar, hopefully his instinct will compensate for his failings.

As long as Abbot and Costello are steering the ship, this is the best we can hope for. I have trust in Rafa's scouting department.

Make no mistake, he will be playing against Villa on Monday. Look at the Rafa quotes and the "He must sign before the weekend" line. He'll be in there. Hope he has a better debut than Skrtel!!!

As for a nickname -  keeping on the K theme, hows abouts KRATOS - Greek God of Strength. Though, lets face it. If he does a job for us and we take to him, it'll be Soli!!

Good luck big man!!!
