Maybe the defender should of blocked it....but once it was past him there was still 20 yards or so until it reached Carson, it wasnt an especially powerful strike and it wasnt even close to finding the corner.
He saved one penalty out of about 15, and didnt even get close to the others, as he had started to dive before the taker even picked a corner. I seriously think i would score 10 from 10 against him. I'd probably get about 5 from 10 against Pepe.

We'll probably end up loaning him out again. I heard that Bolton were interested as it looks like they're going to lose Jaskaleinen.

Watching Carson trying to save those penalties last night made you realise just how fast and agile Reina is though. That's not a criticism of Carson because he's a good goalkeeper, but it made you appreciate Reina even more.

There's a keeper on loan to Sydney FC from Liverpool called Dean Bouzanis. He's a 16 year old Aussie who is on loan at the moment because the rules say he's to young so apparently he'll skip the academy and go straight into the senior team in 2008. Rafa rates him as the best keeper under 18. Maybe he'll be useful on the bench...

Thats fine, i'd do that if we cant make a few million on him.

I disagree about the pens, i thought he was really poor and made the takers mind up nearly every time.

Sell him now.

I just cant see why people rate him.   Every time I see him i think he is shiiite.  He makes like one or two decent saves in a game and thats about it.   As for them pens last night he might aswell of not of been there.

Useless, not even no where near good enough to play for us.

i think that the idea of him going to bolton is by far the best for both clubs, he can gain valuable experience and get regular games under a coach that still part of the fabric of lfc in his heart of hearts

and if carson can iron out the mistakes out of his game he will be a top class keeper but at the moment for me he is easily beaten from range and doesn't look well at crosses

we should buy the young scottish keeper that is gettin rave reviews  craig gordon i think......

wads the point of having another young keeper in craig gordon? reina isnt that old. we already have dean bouzanis who is coming in a season or two. we also have david martin and martin hansen. perhaps we could do with an experienced keeper who is going to retire in a season or 2. otherwise the young keepers are just going to rot away in the reserves.

Against Italy he got beat with one from about 25 yards that went about 3 yards inside the post....before it went in the italians were taking potshots from everywhere so he should have expected it-even if he was slightly unsighted.
He is prone to mistakes, and before someone says it...i know all keepers are, but i have already seen loads from Carson.

Marwood jinxed him last night before the penalty shoot out, as did Peter Taylor. Saying he was a penalty expert and that he would take England through.
He was dog poo in the pens and dived before the dutch players kicked virtually every time, nothing like Pepe-who waits until the very last minute, making the taker have to actually choose a corner and be precise.

If someone offers 3-4 million i would take it, if not we might as well loan him out for another season, and just look at getting an experienced no2 in incase of any injuries to Reina, like with did with Paul Jones a few years ago.

spot on ace mate! we might get slated for agreeing
on this but i totally agree with you.
carson for me just isn"t good enough
not even as no 2, imo we have struggled
in recent years to get a really decent
back up keeper. dudek was a good 1st choice
keeper but struggled to keep his form to a
consistant standard, is it a confidence thing
i don"t know! but what i would say is that we
haven"t had a really outstanding back up
keeper since "mike hooper" i can hear the
chant now "hooper man, hooper man, hooper man"
he was quality. i say sell carson & let the fecking
scouts earn their money & find us 2 quality
(youth or experienced keepers) loan or buy
i don"t mind-there must & is better out there
than carson who won"t cost the earth either.

At this moment in time, IMO, it would be silly to sell Carson unless the offer was above £6 or £7m. I disagree with the doubters, despite being poor on penalties, he is a very very good keeper, his reactions are superb and he definitely improved and grew in confidence during his time at Charlton.

I would either loan him out to a premiership club or try and keep him as a second choice back up. Should he go on loan again to another EPL team, he may increase his value even more. I think we need an experienced back up in any case, whether he goes or stays.

another spot on assesment!
i"m glad i"m not the only one who just can"t
understand why people rate him.
from the very first time i saw him play
for us i sh1t myself, & i never wanted
to see him in goal for us again after
the Luton f.a cup game - yes we won the game
but i will always remember the feck up"s
carson made that day! he was at fault
for all 3 of their goals & made himself
look & prove he is not good enough for us.

IMO people are too quick to judge with 'keepers, their mistakes are picked upon more so than the great saves they make. Carson is only 21 and the progression he's made over the past two years is clear in my eyes. He is a lot more confident and his decision making has improved. 'Keepers do mature late, and at 21 I see a lot of potential in him. He was only what 19/20? when he played at Anfield againt Juventus, and despite the mistake that cost us the Cannavaro goal, he did have a very good game for someone so young. You look at all the great keepers, most take until they're 26 or older to reach their peak.

Carson is a liability we can do without......let villa have him...perhaps someone might be able to teach him to dive AT the ball...rather than AWAY from it when faced with penalties?.

Rafa Benitez has told Scott Carson he'll be back at Liverpool next season and has challenged the young stopper to oust current number one Pepe Reina.
Carson, who has just set a new record for England Under-21 caps, spent last season on loan at Charlton, where he was voted player of the year.

Benitez said: "I was speaking to Scott recently and I told him he will be part of our first-team squad next season.

"He must fight with Pepe Reina now for a starting place. We knew when we fought off Chelsea to sign him he was a talented goalkeeper.

"He got some good experience last season and now he is coming back to us."
