Steve Hunter 05 July 2006

Liverpool have secured the capture of Fabio Aurelio, with the Brazilian left back putting pen to paper on a four-year deal at Anfield this afternoon.
Aurelio won a Spanish La Liga title under Benitez at Valencia and becomes the first Brazilian to play for Liverpool.

Aurelio in training with the reds of the Liverpool players"Fabio is a player with a lot of quality and he is a really good signing for us," Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"His technical ability is fantastic and he has a great left foot and provides the team with a lot of options. He has a really good mentality and he is a winner.

This is a very good day for us. With Gonzalez also now definitely an LFC player, the left hand side of our squad now looks incredibly formidable.

Another striker and a quality right winger and it's game on.

Could be a major coup if he and Speedy can handle the Premiership.

Aside from the fact that our left-flank looks f*cking meaty now, we have also addressed 3 other major problems in our squad, assuming they both adapt accordingly:

1. Added pace. I don't mean "they're pretty swift" - Aurelio is no slouch, but Gonzalez is f*cking incredibly fast. Probably the quickest winger in England now, assuming that the defenders in Spain aren't abnormally slow, therefore making him look quicker than he really is!!!!

2. We have had major problems scoring direct from free-kicks, and even dead-balls ripe for a left-footer to tw*t at goal have been laid-off.
Both Mark AND Fabio are free-kick experts, and this will free-up Stevie and Xabi to get on with their own games, rather than delivering them for others to squander. (Stevie would still take the free-kicks on the left, if they're within shooting distance/an in-swerving ball is required.)

3. AN extra two players who know how to score, and can do more frequently than those they are replacing. (Possible exception of Riise in '04-'05.)
Rafa has stated on numerous occasions that he wants 4 or 5 goalscorers who get 10-15 each, rather than one who gets 30.

We're getting there.

I think Warnock will stay. We need bigger squad to meet the demand of EPL and our European presence. Probably we can try Kewell in the front to play striker role??? We still need Riise....

Alan Shearer amongst others, must feel like crying when they see what Traore has won with Liverpool.

Well the thick b*stard should have joined us then and created the greatest-ever striking partnership with our Robbie.

Imagine that front line.

We'd have won everything going.  :no

I know ! I have often wondered if King Kenny had stayed whether he would have brought Shearer to Anfield.
