1. Torres
2. Crouch
3. Kuyt
4. Vorronin

Torres has settled well with youth and tallent on his side he could well become one of the legends of the team and if this is the quality we can start getting in the team then things are on the up, just needs time playing with Alonso and Gerrard to be able to read them and there passing play and we are in.

Crouch, would love to see him get a run along side Torres as they are two intellegent players. Crouch just needs for me to be more aggressive and the team  to play to his strength which is not a long ball game but one of into feet.

Kuyt, Like the lad offers a lot to the team and seems to do a lot of work which goes un noticed just wish he would become more prolific I would quite happy settle for less work and more goals but i can see what Raffa sees in him he is 100% work rate

Vorronin, good squad player may need time to settle and possibly get games under his belt which may prove hard. I don't think there is any doubt he can score but he strikes me as a wam bam thankyou mam type player as in what you see is what you get, but happy to have him in the squad.

I feel we have 4 striker which Raffa can indeed play in various types of games but the problem seems to be that they all need to play games to get there form up, maybe thats where the problem lies at the moment

Love em all :buttrock

I closed the thread initially due to the overall theme of it sounding a little repetitive, in terms of the copious variations on the very same discussion over the last weeks in countless threads.

However, iam prepared to accept that ive acted a little hastiliy in this case and therefore wish to offer an apology in public (don't give a to$$ how that looks btw) I genuinely mean it. To LittleHobo - the thread creator.

Partly due to the fact that he took the original admonishment in such good grace...and secondly, maybe there is a case to debate this subject in its own thread.

So, without further ado - iam re-opening the topic for the deliberation of all concerned. And once again, offer my apologies for shooting from the hip a little bit too wildly.

No worries man i took your criticism like a man should

anyway thanks buddy for re-opening it

The Manhattan Project wrote:1. Torres - Has adapted well thus far. Needs a prolonged run of games. Will be vunerable to getting kicked off the pitch. No chance of Prem refs protecting him. Very quick and strong.

2. Kuyt - Hard worker. Always causing problems for the opposition. Lack of speed is a concern but working with Torres may cover that.

3. Crouch- Has done a superb job so far. Scored many goals. But has not added the much needed muscle mass to give him extra power. His heading is too inaccurate and he has no speed to speak of. On the plus side though, his footwork is excellent and he always works hard.

4. Voronin - Decent striker. Quite strong and always capable. A good signing who we may get two years out of. Has been OK so far.

I suscribe this post of Manhattan, but I'll pick Crouch second, Kuyt third.

I agree the descriptions of Manhattan (except that I think that asking Crouch more muscles goes against his nature), but I think that what Crouch provides us is more irreplaceable than what Kuyt gives us. I'm happy with both players.

Voronin? I still have to see more, but so far remains fouth option for my taste.

For me its

1. Torres -  Strength, pace, touch, skill, good movement, decent in the air and has a fantastic attitude & workrate. Maybe not be what you call a "born goalscorer" but I would still rate him as a better finisher than our other 3 strikers.

2. Crouch - If he starts playing at his best again he could make a decent partnership with Torres I reckon, usually links up well with the other striker and isn't too bad at finishing (when the balls on the floor anyway)

3. Voronin - Not seen much of him so far but looks like he could be a decent bench man.

4. Kuyt - Last of the bunch, slow, poor touch, not great in the air, no creativity and not a great finisher, he just spends 90 minutres running around very slowly. I can't see what he brings to the party tbh.

Depends very much on how they are used, especially with Kuyt. However if the strikers were given equal opportunity I would expect them to finish in this order as goalscorers (excludes Gerrard and any other non-strikers)

1. Torres
2. Kuyt
3. Voronin
4. Crouch

I don't think Rafa's order of preference is far off that at the moment, although sometimes I reckon he prefers Kuyt first and foremost. Voronin and Crouch are definitely the second string, I would reckon in most people's reckoning so I might just have to do a poll

I completely agree with Rafa on this one, my list is also:

Torres
Kuyt
Voronin
Crouch

I would love to see a partnership of Torres and Babel as I think that could be very very special but doubt it will happen just yet. I fully expect Crouch to leave in the new year and I won't miss him. People are slagging Kuyt off but give him time, he will score I'm sure of it whereas Crouch isn't improving at all and his attitude sucks now.

On a side note I would actually leave Gerrard on the bench for a few games until he figures out how to play again as he has been awfull recently! No player is bigger than the club and if they aren't performing then they should be benched but it seems that rotation only applies to some players for Rafa!!

1. Torres - huge pontential. Already shown his ability in a very short time. Should be the striker who shouldn't be dropped. Needs to work on consistency to be able to jump to the status of a 'great' striker. Nevertheless has all the attributes to becoming a great striker.

2. Kuyt - his contributions are sorely under-rated just because he doesn't play the out-and-out striker role and repeat his goal scoring feats in Holland. His assists are often overlooked. Very suitable among the rest of the strikers besides torres to play a technical fast paced game. (did somebody  mention he's slow?  :Oo: )

3. Crouch - he can be a handful for defenders because of his height. Good ball control for a giant. However painfully lacks speed and heading ability. Might become obsolete if rafa plans to play a technical fast paced game. still good for plan B.

4. Voronin - impressed with his first few games. His goals may have led people to rate higher than he really is since he is seen to having very little impact in other games. Just haven't seen enough of him yet.

1 Torres - looks different class to our other strikers

2 Crouch - Looks like he already knows he's leaving the way he's playing at the moment, but if we could get him playing well again would be a good partner for Torres.

3 Kuyt - Little goal threat and doesn't create enough to make up for his poor goal return. Hard work and no end product. I hope he makes me eat my words but little chance of that at the moment.

4 Voronin - Needs to "show more" in games, seems to virtually disappear in some games. Very alert striker always looking for the sloppy pass to latch onto.

I can see Rafa bringing in another striker to replace Crouch/Kuyt if things don't improve.

Some interesting ones there!

Mine:
1)Torres
2)Babel
3)Gerrard
4)Crouch
5)Voronin
6)Kuyt

Now Rafa's, everyone, surprisingly, has Torres first.
So, he has to get a hat-trick before he can start a game, i don't think that's being the highest rated striker in the team?

1)Kuyt
2)Torres
3)Voronin
4)Crouch
5)Babel

May look crazy but just sit there and think about it for a few seconds and all of a sudden it's not crazy, well it is but not in Rafa's eyes.
Barmy to me, Torres is world - class, something you cant say for the others, week-in week-out

Rafa's:

1) Torres
2) Kuyt
3) Voronin
4) Crouch
5) Babel
Somewhere lost in space) El Zhar ???

Mine:

1) Torres: Offers pace and a threat of creating something from nothing.

2) Kuyt: He's second because of what he's capable of rather than how he's playing now. I'm getting sick of seeing him so deep. Let the midfield do more of the work and get him on the last defender. He played well there in Holland (albeit based on youtube vids) so why not let him do it for us?

3) Voronin: I've been impressed with his work rate andhe seems to be unafraid about getting in goalscoring positions (take note Dirk).

4) Crouch: Ranked below Voronin because he seems to be playing without the self belief he needs. Lacks pace and his height is the biggest problem. We all know he can't head as well as he should but as soon as he gets on the pitch the team play long ball. Would probably do a lot better if the players around him played to his strengths.

5) Babel: Has great potential but still seems rusty and is nowhere near 1st choice striker.

6) El Zhar: Is he still at Anfield?

for me its got to be

1) Torres
2) Kuyt
3) Voronin
4) Crouch

I too can see Crouch leaving, we haven't seen too much of Voronin lately either. I'd love to see a Babel and Torres partnership!

My choice:
Torres
Kuyt
Crouch/Voronin

Rafa's Choice (I suspect)
Torres
Kuyt
Crouch/Voronin

No, I'm not Rafa, but i think he sees Torres and Kuyt as his top pair (in some ways this is down to the fact that they cost him around £35million) and I'd have to agree. I don't think he favors Voronin over Crouch, but they are definitely going to be playing second fiddles to the big money pair.

i think torres is always going to be number 1.
but i think the others will do better in diff types of games.
e.g. i like kuyt playing against chelsea as he runs for lost causes and never gives the deffence time.
