Premiership starting tomorrow

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Well then one day to go to our first game in the prem.
Must admit the team are looking good, averaging 3 goals a game so far in pre season is a pretty good stat :;):
What we have to do now is turn our european performances on in the prem.
Very attacking on wednesday night and thats what Liverpool F.C. is all about pass and move, a joy to watch, excellent for the fans, It seems Rafa has got us playing how he wants but we are maybe still short of 3 players to be up there with the top 3.

I think we will get a result on saturday we will be much fitter and the team with the new players will be used to each other by now, plus Stevie is like a new signing this season compared to some of the half hearted performances we seen from him last season.
7 goals already, not bad for a midfielder.

What the team has to do this season though is no two different half performances one good half and one bad, we know they are better than that, and last season it was so bloody annoying, confusing and down right embarressing.
We should get 6 points out of the up coming games against Boro and Sunderland, and I expect nothing less we are the European Champs and we have beaten all before and we will do it again.

I hope Morientes starts firing them in he could have scored 5 the other night he''s still a yard off pace but he has great awarness and has great predatory skills, he is an excellent player and it would be such a shame, if he didnt show what he's worth this season.
He will even have a chance to get called up for Spain if he starts banging them in, so it will do his international status the world of good and it wont harm us either.
We have Xabi, Luis, Reina, Morientes? maybe 4 spanish internationals, not bad atall, plus the rest of our first teamers are Internationals, my point being against the likes of the hoof the ball up and hope, and boot everything that moves teams, we should be wiping the floor with these teams, e.g. the bitters, Blackburn, Bolton funny that they all begin with B perfect name to these no class no talent teams, that have the cheek to call themselves footballers.
But them tactics can only get them so far, as class always outshines in the end.

And we have a gulf of class in our team, and they have to show it starting from tomorrow.
I also think Rafa will have them playing 3 different styles of play, when plan A and B isnt working go with plan C, plan A being 2 upfront, plan B 1 upfront and a 5 man midfield, and plan C 3 at the back like we did against AC Milan in the second half of the final.
This will also confuse other managers not knowing how we are going to play and who will play.

And finally congrats Cisse, boy did we miss him last season you can see now why he is a 14 million pound striker, excellent attitude heard him talking after the game the other night, what a class fella I am over the moon for him that he recovered from his injury and has found his firing boots again, probably the fastest runner in the prem hes got deadly speed, defenders are going to find him a nightmare, I hope he becomes our Henry, lovely genuine guy.

Team against Boro.
Reina, Finnan, Carra, Hyypia, Warnock
Garcia,Xabi, Gerrard, Riise/Zenden
Morientes, Cisse.

We must start our best 11.

COME ON LIVERPOOL LETS SHOW EM.  :buttrock

Well the oposition hasn't been too challanging, i would like to have been in a mini tourno with a few big teams but as the old cliche goes "you can only beat whats put in front of you"

I can't wait, I miss my footy.   :sniffle

It's going to be a better season than last, we are starting to look a bit more solid, the squad players that we have are better and hopefully the early start will have warmed us up a bit. Big question marks for me over our defense though but hopefully we will get a CB to make it a bit more solid.

excellent post. good analysis of the coming game. I agree that we should start with a strong 11, imagine the champions of europe not winning their first league game :no

almost 100% sure we'll get 6 points from our first 2 games :nod, like you said

changing the formation sometimes will definately confuse these managers, they won't know what hit's them :grinning:

Soccer A.M. in the... er... a.m., Jeff and the boys in the afternoon, MOTD/The Premiership as well as YOSS at night. It doesn't get any better than that. Well, a couple of stripers, a bottle of Jack, 8 (for the price of 4) bottles of Grolsch, a striper, a blunt, a 98" TV screen, a large Quatro Formagio pizza and, of course, Liverpool winning would make it a perfect evening. :D

Cant believe its here already , the prem is back and we have to come flying out the blocks with a win tomorrow. We need to get off to a flyer away from home to make sure there is no away day hoodoo hanging over us like there was all last season, we need rid of that straight away, and i think a win at boro would be a big opening day statement from the reds, Wot a 1st day it is as well, Soccer AM, The scum v  the bluesh!te, then us at 5 bells and hopefully ill be in full swinging beer swiggin party mood by then, If last season was a trip into the unknown in Rafas 1st season then this season holds promise and belief more than anything, 38 league games walking out as european champions and 38 games were we have to show the premiership why we are 5 times european Champions. Weve done it on a european stage and now we must do it on the premiership stage and prove that we are good enough to compete and break into the top 3 cos thats were any side who wins the european cup should expect at least to be, and why not......CGGY im so fookin excited just hope im still as happy at half 7 tomorrow!

I was glad to hear rafa say the other night after the game that from now on when we travel abroard the players will stay in a hotel and fly back the next day, I think this is what gave us the euro hang over flying back to Liverpool at all hours in the morning, then the players having to drive home.
Under Houllier we used to stay over night, and didnt have such poor results the following games.
