Premiership starting tomorrow

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby JC_81 » Fri Aug 12, 2005 5:09 pm

I think we'll get over our Riverside jinx on saturday and take all 3 points.  We've had a good pre-season and with 5 competitive games played already, we'll be sharper than Boro.

The game against Sofia was a very good display from us.  We played as a unit, attacked well and and controlled the game.  I expect the starting lineup to be unchanged for Saturday, with the possible exception of Zenden coming in for either Warnock or Riise.  We need a big effort from Garcia and Morientes in particular, as they let us down in premiership away games last season, but I'm confident they'll improve.

As for Boro, they've lost their best player from last season to us and have an ageing team.  They've added Yakubu, but in general I think they've gone backwards since last season.  I tip them to struggle this year and predict a reasonably comfortable 2-0 away win tomorrow.

it depends where your going on holiday really dont it!
if your going to spain then its alright because you'll get all the sun and probally get to see the game too because they usually show footy matches at the pubs over there.

No no! i know that, but i mean im traveling at the time of the game... so i wont get to see it  :no

i'm in a same sort of dilemma actually.
i don't know whether to watch the liverpool game or go out to a 18th birthday party!
what would you do?  :help

Depends whos party it is?

if i was one of my best mates, then i would go to the party, although if it was just a mate or whatever, then i would watch the game and then appear later after the game has finished

it is some birds party, that has some FIT mates!
i suppose i could watch the game first then come into the party when everyone will be drunk and i can make my move!
CHEERS FOR THE ADVICE!

No problem!!
have fun anways  :alien:

I think the break has flew in this year, usually it drag's in for me and feel's like about four month's - but this time it doesn't seem as long.

I'm really looking forward to this, I think we will kick off with an away win - Liverpool will win 2 - 0 then I think we will thrash Sunderland at least 4!! I get to watch the Super Cup and the next couple of matches in Spain....YEHAW!!!

Roll on LFC.

It will be a difficult game and I don't think that we will win as comfortably as people seem to think. We have the advantage in form obiviously however we mustn't lose our composure or the mentality to win and put pressure on the opposition.

The key to having a successful season is to correct mistakes we've made last season. One of them being losing too many away games. In order to correct that particular mistake you have to start somewhere. If it is going to start anywhere it has to be tomorrow, an away win would boost our mentality even more.

Must admit the team are looking good, averaging 3 goals a game so far in pre season is a pretty good stat :;):
What we have to do now is turn our european performances on in the prem.
Very attacking on wednesday night and thats what Liverpool F.C. is all about pass and move, a joy to watch, excellent for the fans, It seems Rafa has got us playing how he wants but we are maybe still short of 3 players to be up there with the top 3.

I think we will get a result on saturday we will be much fitter and the team with the new players will be used to each other by now, plus Stevie is like a new signing this season compared to some of the half hearted performances we seen from him last season.
7 goals already, not bad for a midfielder.

What the team has to do this season though is no two different half performances one good half and one bad, we know they are better than that, and last season it was so bloody annoying, confusing and down right embarressing.
We should get 6 points out of the up coming games against Boro and Sunderland, and I expect nothing less we are the European Champs and we have beaten all before and we will do it again.

I hope Morientes starts firing them in he could have scored 5 the other night he''s still a yard off pace but he has great awarness and has great predatory skills, he is an excellent player and it would be such a shame, if he didnt show what he's worth this season.
He will even have a chance to get called up for Spain if he starts banging them in, so it will do his international status the world of good and it wont harm us either.
We have Xabi, Luis, Reina, Morientes? maybe 4 spanish internationals, not bad atall, plus the rest of our first teamers are Internationals, my point being against the likes of the hoof the ball up and hope, and boot everything that moves teams, we should be wiping the floor with these teams, e.g. the bitters, Blackburn, Bolton funny that they all begin with B perfect name to these no class no talent teams, that have the cheek to call themselves footballers.
But them tactics can only get them so far, as class always outshines in the end.

And we have a gulf of class in our team, and they have to show it starting from tomorrow.
I also think Rafa will have them playing 3 different styles of play, when plan A and B isnt working go with plan C, plan A being 2 upfront, plan B 1 upfront and a 5 man midfield, and plan C 3 at the back like we did against AC Milan in the second half of the final.
This will also confuse other managers not knowing how we are going to play and who will play.

And finally congrats Cisse, boy did we miss him last season you can see now why he is a 14 million pound striker, excellent attitude heard him talking after the game the other night, what a class fella I am over the moon for him that he recovered from his injury and has found his firing boots again, probably the fastest runner in the prem hes got deadly speed, defenders are going to find him a nightmare, I hope he becomes our Henry, lovely genuine guy.

Team against Boro.
Reina, Finnan, Carra, Hyypia, Warnock
Garcia,Xabi, Gerrard, Riise/Zenden
Morientes, Cisse.

We must start our best 11.

COME ON LIVERPOOL LETS SHOW EM.  :buttrock

excellent post, and couldn,t agree more,i can,t wait for this season to start, the players have the swagger  and confidence of being european champions and have had the best pre season for a long time.i think we will have a real good go at the championship and will definately be in the mix and will be a definate contenders for the champions league.

Very true.

We had horrible form away last season.  If we can play well and earn a victory away at a stadium where we've struggled, then that's definitely a start to overcoming the bad away results we had last season.

A strong start is always needed so our players will play confidently.

Falling behind Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manure right away will not help our players' confidence.

I think Rafa and the boys will do a good job at Riverside.
You'll Never Walk Alone

Yeah, I don't think it will be easy as A.B. pointed out, but I'm confident we will win.

Just imagine, by the end of the month, we would have played 2 domestic games less then the rest of the league due to the 2 CSKA games (3rd qualifying roudn 2nd leg, UEFA Super Cup)
