He will not be forgotten

To put it into perspective, Zidane retired from football, having never played for Liverpool. Hamann left Liverpool to play for another club.

I can hardly wait for his Anfeild return, I hope he gets the reception he deserves, thank you for everything Didi, you will be greatly missed.

Good luck Didi, you've been a great servant to the club but why Bolton?

Latest news is that Bolton have received a lump sum compensation for tearing up Didi's contract. Whether the money was paid by Man City or Didi himself was not disclosed.

The fact that he turned down Bolton shows that he is a true Red to the end (so many Liverpool supporters are happier he went to city).

I think some fans maybe think that after stuart pearce did us a favour, its kind of maybe nice to pay them back with noe of our hardest working and most beloved players...

plus a lot of people i think maybe dont like sam allardyce as some people maybe may think he has a fat head or something maybe

I don't subscribe to this idea of hating the whole of Manchester, it is just daft.  Infact I don't mind Manchester City, they are one of those teams that I don't mind.

I hope Didi does a good job for them, I think it was the right time for him to go, with the lack of opportunities available to him at Liverpool, when he would have got a game for us next season, he wouldn't have the sharpness, and I want to remember him for all the good he brought us, not as an immobile liabilty in a couple of years.

I think if Rafa does have a clear out, it will be for the best, we can't afford to be sentimental, football is a business, and if it means getting rid of older players such as Hamman, :censored: such as Cisse, and the permanently injured such as Kewell and Kirkland then so be it.

I am really at the stage now were I have complete trust in whatever Rafa decides to do, he has started to shape the squad, cut out the deadwood, and as for the thread on Zenden playing CM, I believe he is more than capable with the right person next to him.  Looking at it now, I wasn't made up with the signing of Zenden last year, but what a bargain, capable of playing a number of positions, and has experience as well as the physical attributes to succeed.

Personally I'm happier Hamann went to City over Bolton.  I don't like Allardyce and I don't like the football they play.  Pearce unquestionably did us a favour over the Fowler deal.  If he'd have been awkward about it in any way or demanded any sort of a fee I'm sure Robbie would never have had the chance to play for us again, because with his history of injuries in recent years I don't think Benitez would have gambled paying a fee.

Pearce showed a bit of class over that deal.  I suppose he wanted Fowler's wages off his hands, but he still dealt with it well.  City fans hate ManUre as much as LFC fans, so we've got that in common too.

I wonder whether rumours about Big Sam moving on were on Didi's mind.  It's no good being bought by a manager who moves on, no matter who he is.  You never know if the new guy rates you, or if you'll fit into his style of play.

Well Bolton are a team who's results I always look for after Liverpool's and so I am disappointed that Didi has not gone there.  But you can't blame him for picking City... I've got a lot of time for Stuart Pearce - I love his passion for the game and the way he kicks every ball for his team.  I like Sam Allardyce and what he has done for Bolton and considering his resources.

Its better that he signed for City as they dont really pose problems to us in the league where Bolton have known to be tricky.

-----------
It has been reported that Bolton Wanderers will receive approximately £300,000 in compensation from Manchester City for allowing former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann to walk away from the contract he signed with them.

As a result of the compensation Bolton say they will not take any legal action against for the former German international for refusing to play for them.
