Hamann rejects switch to Bolton

Hamann joined Liverpool from Newcastle for £8m in July 1999
Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that they will not be signing former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann.
Liverpool confirmed on their website on Tuesday that Hamann, 32, left the club to sign for Sam Allardyce's side.

But in a statement on their website, Bolton said: "Although Didi Hamann signed a contract with the club, he has since had a change of heart.

Manchester City have been linked with the player, and Bolton added: "He will sign for another club within 24 hours."

The German midfielder's exit from Anfield came after he slipped down the pecking order because of competition from Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and Momo Sissoko.

Reds boss Rafael Benitez told the German he could leave.

Hamann won eight medals during his seven-year stint at Anfield.

He made 283 appearances for Liverpool scoring 11 goals. And in 2002, Hamann became the first Liverpool player since Roger Hunt in 1966 to play in a World Cup Final.

i do too. but he obviously wants to play more football.

he will be sorely missed whereever he goes. Would love for him to have stayed, had more of an influence and pass on his wisdom to momo.... then what a sub to have, as he has proved in 2 cup finals, one player who can be a real game changer, and also relaxes other players on the pitch as everyone round him knows its didi on the pitch so they can go off and do their own thing.
