New stadium sponsorship

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby stmichael » Wed Oct 06, 2004 12:02 pm

Apparently Arsenal will receive close to £100million in exchange for Emirates sponsership..which includes them having to call their new stadium "The Emirates Stadium".

Would you be happy to let our new stadium be named after a sponser from a foriegn country in return for a big cash injection, and if it also meant that ticket prices went down as a result? ???

I hate the idea of the "you`ll never walk alone"-sign over the gates of Liverpools new homeground, the £120M Pepsi stadium. This will, imo, be hard getting used to, even if it would allow us to spend £100M on the transfer market. Sounds like prostitution to me ???

That's the way it will be. Football is run by money and to be successful, we need money. Just aslong as it's not something stupid like the Tampax Stadium. Bring a new meaning to Liverpool playing at home anology!!

one of the main problems with sponsorship is that most deals will probably run for between 10 and 15 years. however what happens when that deal is up? would the club have to change the name of the stadium again? ???

Or maybe we could call it the John Travolts stadium.

Like him we had done nothing for a few years, but are making a comeback.

I'd rather the ground was just called Anfield but if a sponsor's name on it means bags of extra dosh then maybe go for it. After all did anyone ever call Boro's ground the "BT Cellnet Riverside"? No, apart from people who also refer to football as "soccer".

Does anyone call Southampton's ground the "Friends Provident St Mary's stadium"?  Do they bollox.

If the price is right then let it be called the KY Jelly stadium, everyone knows it's real name will always be Anfield.  :O

perhaps we need a new ground name, as anfield was originally owned by everton, so lets have our own from now on. As long as the kop roars on, so will LFC
