Luis Garcia Leaves Anfield - He Signs for Athletico Madrid

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby stmichael » Mon Jul 02, 2007 12:34 pm

Couldnt pass or keep possession of the football very well but a great player for us.

Think he could have been a lot better too if he was played in the King Kenny role rather than as a winger.

Number 5 wouldnt have been achieved without him but for us to win the league we have to be able to keep the ball better and sadly we cant do that with little Luis in the team

I wish him all the very best

Gutted, we really missed him last season...more than people realise. A scorer of great goals, and important ones as well.
Scored one of the best headers i have seen as well, think it was against Fulham at Anfield.
He might of wasted posession alot of the time but he had the ability to make things happen, a really clever two footed player and a great character as well.
3.5 is far too cheap, hopefully it is because of the Torres negotiations because he should be valued at about 8 million.
Good luck Luis, thanks for the goals, especially the phantom champions league semi final winner that still bothers Mourinho.

All of this talk of the Garcia deal being independent of the Torres deal is rubbish, IMO.  The two are linked, hence the low fee for Garcia.  He will be missed but it's not the end of the world.

Scored some absolute crackers for us. That goal against Juve will stay in my memory for a long time, and so will his "goal" against Cheslea :D
But he did have his faults. He had the flair, but he was perhaps too lightweight and for the one moment in a match that he performed magic, there were a fair few more when he was frustrating and wasteful.
Nevertheless, I'll miss the little scamp. It's sad that we'll never see him sucking his thum in a red shirt again. But then again, he's played for most of the clubs in career at least twice so we'll probably sign him back next summer  :D
All the best goes to our li'l Luis. Viva Garcia!

glad to see him go. he gave the ball away more often than he gave it to a liverpool player.

I think he's good for coming on as sub, not really any starting formation I'd want him featuring in. He's got a pretty good scoring rate for someone who doesn't start regularly and doesn't play as an out and out striker

One of the Rafalution's most under-rated players.  I'm sad to see him go.  Hope we get someone in who can do what he did for us - we need his type of player.

When he was good he was great but when he was bad JESUS he was so bad. hope him all the best. He will be twice the player in spain with more time on the ball to work his magic but the prem never rearly suited him good luck anyway YNWA... :D

Good player to come off the bench and add impact into a lack luster game. He has been a good player but there is always a time for some people to move on and it was his time.

His absence is half the reason we struggled to break down teams in the second half of last season.

Very unappreciated player, and one we will definitely miss.

Gutted. :no

This is a bad mistake from Rafa to let him go. One of our more exciiting and useful players we had. I'm really disappointed.:(

I'll be disappointed if he goes but it remains to be seen whether it will be a mistake or not, if it is necessary in order to sanction the Torres deal then it could turn out to be a good move. If he is homesick then you cannot say it is a mistake on Rafa's part - it's just the way it goes.
