Liverpool vs arsenal - Carling cup qtr final

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Rafa D » Tue Dec 19, 2006 12:19 pm

I am looking forward to tonights match and this is were this competition gets interesting. It is a micky mouse cup in my peoples eyes but still, its another cup and another day out for the redmens faithful following. I have seen the squad Arsenal are selecting their starting 11 from and to be honest, if we don't win I will be very disapointed.

I expect Rafa to field a strong side by his comments and also I expect him to go with Kuyt and Fowler up front. I don't know how many of you listen to Radio City 96.7 but after the game on Saturday, Rafa gave an interview to them and explained how the strikers are progressing and why he played Bellamy and Kuyt. He mentioned the next partnership he wants to try is Robbie and Dirk up front together. I expect tonights match is something he can try that on.

I expect Hypia to be rested with Agger filling in and maybe a rare start for Aurelio as no one can play as badly as Riise did at the weekend. Gerrard and Xabi in the middle as theres no one to come in, and Pennant and Garcia on the wings.

MY TEAM:

.                          Reina

   Finnan       Carra        Agger      Aurelio

Pennant      Gerrard     Xabi Alonso    Garcia

.              Fowler         Kuyt

SUBS

Dudek
Hypia
Peltier
Crouch
Gonzo

I think this quote adds fuel to the rumour that Steve Heighway is on his way out. I hope its not true because Heighway has always been highly respected by everyone that has come through the youth system, and has worked hard for Liverpool and the kids for a very longtime.

thats what i meant about, interesting comments. He (Rafa) elaborates here:

By Jason Hogan:

" ... Look at Liverpool. Nobody in England has been more successful in terms of winning trophies than them. Yet, their fans are not arrogant enough to just go to Anfield and sit there, week in and week out, in silence, expecting their team to entertain them and for the games they play to take what they perceive to be a natural course.

Whether they are playing Reading, Fulham, Sheffield United or Manchester United, there is always an atmosphere which is intimidating and the only thing that varies is not so much the atmosphere but the actual level of intimidation itself. ... "
