It felt weird watching the game knowing Owen ain't around any more. That's going to take time to get used to, but I'm glad that Cisse scored .. great for his confidence. The team played good football in the first half.

Benitez was right when he said the two forwards were taken of because of tiredness.. but 'Sinama' was awful. Warnock looked brighter.. but the pace took it out of the lads in the 2nd half.

Overall not a great result but satisfactory... Benitez has spoken of getting the balance of the Team right.. that is really impotant now. He also need time to get them to gel and that will happen.

Every time I hear him speak.. I feel reassured.. he is focued and knows what needs to be done.  It is up to the giant that is Liverpool, Football Club to make the necesary funds required, available to him..

Keep the faith All, we have a great manager :)

baros anonymous 2 games in a row is a real worry especially after losing owen. sinama pongolle was sh1t. maybe we nned another striker after all. Gerrard also disappointing but we can allow him this one. josemi was very good as were cisse, finnan and kewell. we can work on it. At least we're top of the table for now
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

Finnan was not bad, let alone if put on where he belongs.

don't think Gerrard did anything wrong. 1st half he played excellent. He got into scoring positions a few time(1 of which Cisse was guilty of being selfish for not releasing SG), made good tackles..The whole team just got tired in the 2nd half but maybe complacency also played a part. Cinama looked real shitty and has no brain..was surprised with Warnock thou, he looked technically good

Yes, was suprised with Warnock. Showed a few good touches. We should see more of him if kewell continues drifting in & out games.

Gerrard's post match interview was worrying.. he looked deflated and said Owen's departure was a "shock".. but a win or two will hopefully lift his spirit.. Owen's departure was going to be difficult ... but here's hoping he can stay focused.. 2nd half they all looke tired.. Spuyrs apparentkly played 12 pre-season matches... :(

yah he looked not bad but not good either. he doesn't terrify defence..can't run at defence and put in decent crosses.

We really need to give Rafa more than one game! I can't believe there's so much negativity after our first game. Firstly, Rafa will need time to imprint his style on the team. Secondly, I'm certain there'll be a few players coming in over the next week or so. Rafa knows we need a RW and will DEFINITELY get one. Be patient.

Agreed about judging Rafa based on just 1 game, Quimby.

Let the man get some more players in and get the team to play to his preferred style with a lot of progressive passing and pressing of the opponents. Our players need to adjust too and should do better when the level of fitness increases with more games.

1. Positives

-Josemi
-Cisse now has a premiership goal
-Warnock looked solid

2. Negatives

-all the same as last season particularly in the 2nd half (eg sitting back, hoofing. RM, etc etc)

3. Mitigating circumstances

- 2nd game in  4 days
- Heavytravel preseason
- only a few friendlies so we lack fitness
- squad been trimmed but benetez yet to add to it
- Benetez hasnt been here long to bed down how he wants to play

Long way to go this season. I dont expect miracles but I hope as it progresses, genuine improvement.
I need a leg, I buy a leg. Not a lamp.
