How come is this a new rule?

Oh right good stuff   would still like to finish 2nd though if we dont win the league anyway.

This touring of Asia where the marketing is concerned is there much profit to be made with all the jarg copies that get made there? I doubt it.

the money comes from appearance money and tv rights. there are a lot of copies out here but I know many do buy the official merchandise from adidas, i would say its the poorer who buy the copies, its easy to tell as the copies do not have the adidas badge above carlsberg

On the question of the pre season thing, I don't in all honesty think it makes too much difference from a football perspective who you play, or indeed where (within reason obviously). Pre season games these days are played at practically walking pace, and even the first couple of matches of the actual season are normally fairly tame affairs. I hear what you're saying GYBS about playing Tranmere or someone and it being more competitive (it probably would be) but the truth is that these days managers would me more concerned about avoiding injuries than they would getting people fit. We'd play half a team (as we no doubt will in Asia as well) so it makes no odds really I don't think.

Still want Top Spot Ciggy  :D

yeah it is hard to get money from abroad with all the fake shirts they do .

How many real shirts make it out there ? Cant really blame the guys out there buying the fakes or replicas . Not sure where else money comes from ? Do Liverpool sell rights to games ? Well they cant for Prem games or CL but pre season games ? Do they get any money from the gates ? CAnt see it myself - more PR and get in the public view out there than money imo . Guess most of the money will just come from the sponser for playing.

think your right there mick the manager will be praying for no injurys before the season but you see it every year so and so player out for 6 months due to a sh*t tackle from some lower league jock strap wanting to make his name

The only thing about long distance travelling pre-season is the tiring travel may have an adverse affect on training and the changing time zones obviously will have a detrimental effect on training. He may not PLAY many stars in each game, but usually they ALL travel.

i am sure they will be comfy in business class mate, the biggest issue is the heat. i run every morning at 7am and its already pushing 30 degrees, 9am we are up to 35, evening time for the games will still be around 30 degrees. still it will be good for stamina building and fat burning.

That could be part of the problem though mate. I was reading a while ago that players today don't have a problem with being OVERWEIGHT, but have a big problem maintaining their weight.

Because they no longer live on chips and beer, but lead a healthier lifestyle many players now have to take food and other subsidies(sp) to help them maintain their weight. (obviously not Pennant) So going to a hot climate where they will burn and sweat lots of fat and fluids off may not be as beneficial as it once would have been.

a couple of seasons ago we were in hong kong, remember pompey beat us, HK gets cool in the winter, it drops to about 25, but summer when we were there it will have been about 35, i am sure the doctor will keep an eye on it and most of the players will have been in summer heat before at world cups etc. keep taking fluids on and carbs and protein and they should be ok. the fat i am talking about is the amount they will put on over the summer, they should burn that off quick

its a good thing. firstly it generates revenue. secondly, does anyone really believe they will be tired? they are paid so much and being top athletes surely they are better then an average american soldier?  ???

How much revenue does it really generate and in what way ? it is complete obligations towards sponsers . We dont get gate reciepts or shirt sales - maybe a bit of telly money and appearence fee but not that much - its a PR exercise in the main to try and put us into the eyes in Asia but they already get all the prem matches .

And fitness of american soldier or even british soliders has what to do with it ? are these the same guys that are prob far fitter than prem footballs due to the demands of working in the gulf at present ?
