With gerrad leaving.. we sure need a class midfielder to command and lead the team.. Riquelme... this guy is superb.. his freekick.. passing... vision.. dribbling... top notch. I will say channel the fund from gerrad to get this guy if possible he is the kinda guy that can turn a club around.

He sure is, as is Pablo Aimar who has already stated on numberous occasions he woul dlove to play once again under RB as he was very unhappy under CR.

I think Riquelme has signed for the team he was on loan at last season on a permanent basis

he signed for villareal so there is no chance he spent last year on loan and signed a permenent deal a few weeks ago, agree he is class but its pretty much a no go for this season on him

Two points here:

1. Gerrard is still a Liverpool player under contract, until he or the club says otherwise then its all paper talk.

2. Riquelme just completed his transfer from Barcelona to Villareal, so why do you think Villareal would sell him after beating off hot competition to sign him?

I think Pablo Aimar is quality all round. And Juanh Fran from RM is alos highly rated. Rafa has tried to sign both of these players in the past but perhaps if SG goes then they can come show us what they can do

The best is to keep Gerrard here... It's hard to find someone with his all around abilities even in defence... Riquelme/Aimar are both incomparable to Gerrard, they are more like Garcia i think...

Apart from the fact that Riquelme has already signed for Villareal...i dont think hes a good signing for any Premiership club...hes a superb player but he likes to play veeeery slowly and so plays the whole team...i dont think it could suit the pace of English football.

By the way, i dont know if its just spanish media shhit but especially today all the papers (even those of Barcelona) r saying that Gerrard is leaving for sure (without mentioning the possible destination)

I think we have enough of attacking midfielders with Luis Garcia, Harry Kewell and now Bolo Zenden... We should concentrate more on central midfielder and the defensive section as if Steven Gerrard leaves we will have only Xabi and Didi(and Diao)

If gerrard does go and im saying IF I would like to see Michael Ballack at anfield because he can pass, shoot, take a pen, take a free kick and he is good getting forward and is good in the air. And with only 1 year left on his contract we may get him on a cut price.

Yea, ballack says he wants to leave Bayern. IF stevie goes, then ballack will do nicely filling in stevie's role.
