Funny anfield memories

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Just wondered what are some of your funniest anfield memories from down the years.

I thought it was quite funny last year when we were 3 or 4 up against Blackburn and someone twatted the ball into the Kop. Freidal went up and asked for the ball to be thrown back to him and about three lads threw him these beach balls that were decorated like footballs.

Don't think Freidal saw the funny side of it, then again, I'm not surprised, he didn't have much to smile about that day.

I also remember against the mancs last season when van horseface got the ball and a chant started in the kop of "you'll never win the national". unfortunately it never really got going properly.

what are some of your funniest memories?

Against Bradford when we won a free kick just outside the box at the Ani road end, one of the Bradford players weren't too please so they vollied the ball and it hit the ref in the head, I think their was about 5 mins extra time cos of the ref which was Jeff Winter if I remember correctly.  :D

I was late for that game cos I got three points on the way to the game for a red light by the Liver Buildings  :( , I'm sure the pigs were Evertonians cos he said to me the light was on red for a 'good second'

The funniest thing has got to be when I seen this tout selling some wool a ticket for well over the odds. Kick off had allready gone about 5 mins ago.  The wool walked away looking at his ticket the daft ****** diddnt no were to go.  So he returned to the tout and said a mate were do I have to go to get in with this ticket.  The tout said giz a look fella grabbed it off him and walked into the turnstile.  The look on the wools face was priceless.  But thats not it the wool then called a pig over told hiom what had just happened and the bizzie just laughed at him.

Daft woolyback's just love giving there money away. :D

Another great memory was against the Mancs in he 1991/92 home game on the last day of the season. We beat them 2-0 which meant Leeds won the league. But it felt like we'd won it instead. They had just started using 'always look on the bright side of life' as their tune everytime they beat someone, and we started singing it back to them along with 'you lost the league on Merseyside'.  :p

Against Grimsby in the league cup. Liverpool were winning and the Grimsby fans were singing 'We only sing when we are fishing'
The Liverpool supporters were giving the players names to do with fish and sing there names like, 'Kenny Dogfish and Phil Seal'. It really sticks in my memory.

I,as a true red from Merseyside, fail to see the funny side of some scum bag tout ripping off a genuine Liverpool supporter. The touts are the same kind of vermin as agents;they jus follow football to fleece real fans...parasites all of them....

Agree supersub

I live in Cardiff and see enough of the other side of football.  Im glad I support LFC and enjoy this forum as it tends to stick to the football side.

I live about 100 yards from the millenium stadium and have found LFC fans coming to Cardiff to be well behaved and a good laugh even though I support the club and know a few scousers so I might be biased  :D

Touts are parasites but seem to get this bizarre sort of repsct off people.  Ive seen touts outside Anfield ripping off scousers and out of towners and Ive seen touts going on about being Liverpool fans to sell tickets then you spot them in Everton on derby games supporting the blues. The only thing they support is money.

I recall a game against Swansea when Toshack brought his then high flyers to Anfield. It was the game after Bill Shankly died and unfortunately some Swansea fans broke the minutes silence. As you can imagine, emotions where running high and Swansea, continuing their good form where 2-0 up at the break. I was on the balcony in the Kop end eagerly awaiting the reds predictable fightback against the Kop second half. Some crazy drunken Swansea fans decided to run at the Kop during the interval, and one proceeded to clamber beween the gap in the railings. A young girl spotted him and stood down from her milkcrate, held it above her head and belted him with it! then the cops dragged him away. It was quite a day allround. And yes, we fought back second half to clinch a 2-2 draw. As I remember Terry Macdermott got 2, one a pen after being felled by their keeper Dai Davies. Its never much spoken about but this game has stuck with me always.

One of the funniest things i remember is about Heskey. And before u say anything, NO its not about him falling over all the time.

I remember a match vs Derby when we beat the 4-0 and Heskey scored a hatrick.

The commentator after Heskey's 3rd goal said ' ...and thats his first hatrick, surely first of many in a liverpool shirt. He hasnt scored two in 1 match for a long time let alone 3.

Heskey should sue the commentator for jinxing him so badly   :D

Why do you concur "I'm a wool",you know diddley squat about me.I left the land of the "non-wools",probably,before you were born,to cross the river.I just find any attempt to put down fellow Liverpool supporters abhorrent.I'm sick and tired of reds fans having a go at so called OOT's.Liverpool is a global club so have respect for the fan who makes more of an effort to get to the games than me or you who spend 10 minutes in the car and whinge about parking.

Some more surreal moments i remember:

Being 3-0 down at home to Chesterfield.

The game finishing 4-4.

Ronald Mcdonald cheerleading the kop before a testimonial against Everton (Brucie's I think).

Making Roy Castle dance on the pitch to the sound of my airhorn before the Everton game in 93/94.

Thinking the ground beneath my feet had caved in when we went 2-0 up against Leeds in 92/93, only to find we were in fact jumping up and down on my mate Jason who had collapsed after a day on the pop. Seeing him sail down the kop to the pitch over everyone's head was strangely amusing.

Every single person in the ground singing "there's only one cheating b#stard" to John Fashanu as Wimbledon left the field having won 3-2 thanks to a rather dubious penalty in 91/92.

:D
