Fernando morientes - Go out and support the lad.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Fernando Morientes > 19 < » Sat Aug 27, 2005 10:37 am

Fernando Morientes might not at the top of his form lately. This is all due to the fact that the spanish international has recently moved to a new city, new culture and to a new team. The lad lack in confidence at the moment and he is trying to work hard to show that he is worth a place in the European Champion team. There are many fans criticising his lack of effort but we should not forget that the lad didn't play competitive football for more that six months last year.

Instead it would be a big boost for the lad to receive the support of the Liverpool fans in all forthcoming matches. When is the last time we heard "Nando, Nando, Nando" from the crowd ?? That must be quite some time ago. We, Liverpool fans are known to be the best in the world, but don't you all think that we need to make our players special just as they make us proud fans ??

If we were able to shout " Igor Igor Igor " match in and out last year, then why can't we could it for Fernando Morientes ?? Why do Liverpool fans don't get behind him ??

Is it that we are afraid of having 11 spanish players in the team ?? Well, we won the FA Cup in the Ian Rush, Jan Molby, Bruce Grobbelaar times without even having an Englishman in the team and we were proud to support the team. Why can we do so for an international player of Morientes standard having won 38 caps and scoring 25 goals. He has been the Champions League top scorer to years ago.

We should understand that he is a proven striker and needs our support. A Fernando Morientes without good service is definitely pointless and that's why Rafa Benitez has been looking for a good RW. We already got a good LW in Bolo Zenden who is starting to get to grip, having played in the premiership before. If Harry Kewell also comes out of his coma we might see a better morientes.

Come on dear fans, We are Liverpool fans and we need to support all our players with due respect. Give Morientes some time.

The chants of Nando, Nando would be heard if he actually did something to deserve it,all this about settling in and match fitness is a load of :censored:,he trains everyday has played enough competetive matches i just dont think he is right for english football. We have Crouch to cope with the high balls now so i say if we have to get rid of a striker let it be Morro and not Cisse.

Here are reasons why Fernando wont do so well.

However I do agree that each and every player must get support from the fans.

Last season Drogba and Kezman disappointed us, but here was not one game where we didnt support or cheer them. Its always good to back your players - an incentive for them to perform.

Lately ? Morientes has been off the boil since the day he arrived . As for giving him our support ,every time any player pulls on an LFC shirt they automatically get our support. Perhaps our expectations have been to high but his performances for us have never been anything more than average /unremarkable . Also your observation that he's new and settling in,new city new culture etc holds no validity ,look at Sissoko ,is he having a problem ?

Time for Morientes to earn his right to be here .   :kungfu:

i disagree with you on one thing Fernando Morientes > 19 <, we havent already got a good LW in bolo zenden, hes a rubbish player, he does an average job on the left thats all, i cant repeat this anymore!
i also dont think moro wil ever make it in the prem, and i can safely say that both statements i have made here will turn out to be right. zenden = average on the LW   moro = never make it.
although i do agree we should back all our players, its not going to change anything IMO, but chelsea forever made a good couple of points why we should indeed back our players.

to be fair though....they didn't need to score coz you had 200 million quids worth of people who could do it for them! so you still won even if it was your defenders coming up to score!

Fernando is a :censored: player. Thats all. You are discussing for nothing. You have to be realistic. Milan Baros was a million times better than him.

.. I want Mmmorientes to do well, in fact I'm desperate for him to do well.. but he has to be in attacking positions to score.. and he is comin too deep to get the ball and then he is not quick enuff to get in goal scoring positions.. this right-sided midfileder and better quality crosses should help.. but I agree he must show more energy.. Yep I say give him a chance .. but if senor MO arrives.. he may find the chances disapear..

Come on Mmmorientes.. earn your place :)

If you look at the stats, you will find that Morientes has more assists per game than any other striker in the team. Maybe that is what Raffa wants from him. It seemed that he attracted two defenders last night, which meant others were open because of his play. Also the crosses coming in to him were not the best. It is not as simple as does he score.

i think morientes is just terrible, n i'm sick of hearing abt all the trophies he's won. he cant handle the premiership and its embarrasing how weak he is on the ball.... a defender's shirt brushes against him n he runs away a mile!

i know benitez is tactically a genius and an amazing man-manager, but i've sed before.... i really worry about his dealings in the transfer market...

seems he's gna hav got rid of the 2 best strikers we had this summer. i'm getting a strange feeling of de ja vu... garcia, morientes, josemi >>> diomede, cheyrou, ferri

i hav to agree zenden is :censored: but i do believe that later, we'll see he is only 3rd choice left winger behind kewell (please dnt bite my head off, i still reckon a 95% fit kewell is better than duff) and riise. i didnt see him beat a man ONCE last night.... what kind of winger is he?!

sissoko is always skating on thin ice with his stupid tackles, sami is past it, and pongolle still hasnt learnt how to pass accurately!

the only players who i value at liverpool are... gerrard, carragher, warnock, alonso, hamann, kewell and cisse ...wudnt mind seeing ne of the others leave to make way for owen.

wna see sum of these young guns rafa bought in the 1s team... barragan looked clever.
we've only won it 5 times

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that nando is a proven class player, his record in the champs lge and for his country speaks for itself; he is having to drop deep to come and find the ball cos there is absolutely no service coming in from either wing which is what he thrives on, this should sound familiar cos i seem to remember a certain Mr Owen having to do this whilst wearing a liverpool shirt.
