Cisse wants out - He'll leave if he stays on the bench

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby SouthCoastShankly » Wed Oct 05, 2005 8:42 am

It has been reported on various football news sites, BBC Sport, World Footballers.com, Tribalfootball.com, that Cisse will consider leaving in January if he continues to be a bench warmer

"Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse has admitted he may have to quit Anfield in January.

After making just two first-team starts this term, the £14million French striker is growing increasingly frustrated.

He said: "I accept Rafa Benitez's decisions and I am patient. But I'm not going to remain on the bench all season.

"For the moment it's only the start of the season but, if the situation does not change, my thinking will be different in December." "

In my opinion I don't blame him. Regardless if Rafa wanted him or not, when you pay 14m for a player of his calibre you should be finding a way to play him. What a waste of money otherwise, our financial situation is hardly good and to basically throw 5m down the drain is ludacris. Cisse will never make the 14m we paid for him!

Who would of thought Crouch of all people would be pushing Cisse out of the team.

Ridiculous

Personally all I will say is they have probably tried to take it out of context and done so by munipulating the words, I wouldnt be surprised if it was a bit more like this, which would not warrant silly headlines:

He said: "I accept Rafa Benitez's decisions and I am patient. But I'm not going to remain on the bench all season, for the moment it's only the start of the season.' (ie; Big squad, many games etc; etc;)

But, if the situation does not change, my thinking will be different in December." "

Which would be fair enough considering he plays (and starts) for France and there is a World Cup next year. And why after five months of the season and a decent pre-season would he be still sitting there in the same fashion as now? That would make it abundantly clear he is not liked and or wanted by Rafa, so of course his thinking would be different.

Just sensationalist bu.llshit to rock the boat, though funnily enough I believe he may well be gone come January anyway (but we all kinda have this feeling anyway) so this is nothing new to a Liverpool fan, they just want to sell more papers!!!

Its sad that a player of Cisse's quality is not given a chance. Its even more sad that after his fight back from injury he doesnt have a fair platform to prove himself, to regain his confidence and to do what he does best - play football.

I can understant Rafa' doesnt favour him, all managers have their choices and to some he might be useless while to others priceless. After Milan IMO he is the second striker at Lfc who can score goals, but it seems he is on the same path Milan was before he left - used as a Sub and kept in the dark.

Personally I feel he has shown great character in coming back from his broken leg and telling the press N number of times how he loves Liverpool, the fans and the club and how he is eager to show them why he was bought for 14M and to repay the faith and support they showed him during his injury.

I wont blame him at all if he leaves, infact I would expect Rafa to sell him if this continues. I wish him all the best at whichever club he goes, I hope he sticks around in the EPL or plays for a big club in La Liga ( I wouldnt like him to return to France).

Cheers

On the topic, if Cisse continues to complain to the press, he will be gone and rightly so.

I think the reason Rafa doesn't play him is because he was not his choice of striker.  He was a Houlier signing with the deal done and dusted before Rafa arrived.  Maybe he is just making the point that he wants his own signings.

Raffa seems much more professional than that. He will play who he thinks will help the team.

Yes I agree he is very professional but Cisse obviously doesn't fit in with Rafa's idea of how we should play.  He's shown that by buying in Crouch and Morientes and getting rid of Baros.

There is not many of Houliers signings left - Rafa came in with a new broom so to speak.  Cisse had been signed and never even played for us when Rafa came.  I think he would never have signed him in the first place given the choice.

The talk was that Raffa was looking at Cisse for Valencia but I do not believe it. You are right, Raffa does not seem to like Cisse as a player and I think he hates players that appeal to the press for  a place on the team (I seem to remember Baros did the same). As to why he is getting rid of Houllier players is probably because Houllier bought mostly sh1t. He seems happy with Hypia, Traore Risse Finnan etc. so I would say it is about skill and attitude.
