Reds starlet heads home

Carl Medjani has brought his Liverpool career to a close by signing for Lorient.

The 21-year-old joined Liverpool from St Etienne in 2003 and was billed as a star of the future.

He failed to make the expected progress and was farmed out on loan to Metz last term.

Medjani won praise for his displays in Ligue 1 last term despite Metz suffering relegation at the end of the campaign.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez informed the player he had no real future at Anfield and consented to an approach from Lorient.

Medjani, who spent the 2004/05 season at Lorient, signed a three-year contract with the Britanny club on Monday.

Good luck to him, he is only 21, still plenty of time for him to forge out a successful career.

For us another player off the wage bill, the work continues.

Now why doesn't that surprise me...

He is a good player, not just 1 for the future. He is the French under 21 captain, i would have liked to have seen him given a bit more of a chance. 21 is still a young age for a centre back, still has a lot to learn in terms of reading the game, but plenty of time to do it

Watch him show up in the fucking 2010 World Cup final like Alou Diarra a fortnight ago.

Fucking Houllier.

The lad's probably a good player, I'll be honest, I haven't been to a reserve game in eight years, only from reading The Liverpool Way fanzine do I get a review of the reserves and when I had my e-season ticket, they showed highlights of their games.

But Medjani probably had the confidence knocked out of him by Le 'Fucker Upper' Boss.  Good luck to the lad for the future though.

But I've said my piece on this in the other thread.

Quite true, Jonny.

He can't be THAT bad if he's captain for the Frog U21's.

Probably not suited to the Premiership, and nowhere near as good as Paletta, Agger, etc.

At least he's off the wage-bill, now. He was probably on a first-teamer's wage, knowing how that money-burning git worked.
