Since "whopper" is the word of the day, there have been a few whoppers around this morning. I've seen that "it's all about support" believing we still have a chance of winning the league. It's nothing of the sort of course, you either believe we can still win it or you don't. If you don't believe we can win it it doesn't therefore follow that you "aren't a real fan", should "go and support somebody else" or are even any less of a fan. It doesn't mean you've "given up" (not that it makes any difference if you have because you aren't actually playing or in almost every case on here actually going to the match).

Quite simply, you either think we can still win it or you don't. I don't, some do. That's absolutely Ok with me, and I can't for the life of me see why it shouldn't be A Ok with them as well.

tbh i wasnt really talking about aqualini, i was answering the question, i just added that 1 thing as a matter of fact, because i think it in someway relates to the question being asked.

And to even it out for you mick people on this thread have been leaped on for saying we can do it and believe in the istanbul spirit ie still trying to be positive (which is damn near impossible on here as you get called all sorts if you dare be positive) and people have been leaped on for saying our team is sh.it at the moment .

It's another paradox of newkit that people who accuse others of being glory hunters, then tell them to go and support somebody else if they don't think we are going to win something . The idea that thinking we won't win the league  is enough to make you jump ship is a new one on me. I will continue to support the club regardless of where we finish, I just don't happen to believe that 1st is any bigger than a minute possibility. We have as much chance of winning it as Aston Villa in my view, ie none.

Im guessing that was posted by your friend , but as i said mick its pretty even as when people have stuck up and defended the manager or players or team they too have been accused of being ,"clueless" "delusional" "lacking of football knowledge" "red tinted specs " etc etc ,as i asked yesterday before your friend arrived and turned it personal its not just the pro's giving the anti's (hate those words) sh.it - it works just as well the other way round and its hard to post positive on here without people leaping on you from a great height . The fault is with both sides mick something your posts never say as they just have a pop at people backing Rafa .

You only have to look at your sig to see you got a right bee in your bonnet about a comment that has prob been said by your buddy and a very very small minority on here but you make it out like every one who supports Rafa thinks that people who dont support Rafa arent "real fans" when you know thats nowhere near the truth .

Mate I'm done with "pro" and "anti" as I don't they are relevent to todays situation. Anybody who watches football matches and has any idea what is goping on, pro or anti can see that at the moment we have huge problems. As i said earlier, the manager is rightly being given every opportunity to turn things around but if he doesn't/can't/won't, then he'll have to go. No pro or anti involved, just common sense.

Liverpool as a football club and a business cannot function by being out of all major competitions before Christmas and failing to get into the top four of the Premiership. We can all have a big willy contest all we like about who was/is right or wrong, but that is a simple and unequivical fact as far as I see it.

Yes their is problems mick and as stated earlier the responsibilty fails down on the manager and players and its up to them to turn it around and get us going , to play as well as we all know they can , to get the results we all know they can and to start the confidence building game .

As for giving the manager time - yes he must be given it - but when if he is to go well  guess that will always be up for debate - definatly not during the season - at the end of the season - well that could depend on where we end up and whether or not the owners think this season was a poor one off one and next season will be an up turn . Its all guessing game really but i agree we need to be in the big competitions and its disappointing to be out of the cl at this stage but its the first time in 5 years and we arent the first big club to do it and if the players start performing it wont harm us in the long run .

The europa leage is still a decent trophy to play for as is the FA Cup and their is still the Top 4 and maybe even higher - we are still not far behind third and maybe can reach second as the Mancs have just been hit by an injury crisis . As for winning it - well chances are slim as hell but you never know what will happen over jan with chelsea loosing two of their top players .

The priority for me is for the players to start performing on the pitch to the standard we all know they can perform .

And if your done with all the pro anti sh.it then please stop posting up stuff about real fan and stick to what you do best and thats providing good solid debate about football .

"Real fan" is hardly my invention. I've been told I'm not one countless times, and people still talk about fans being "lesser" and "not knowing our history" and other such nonsense. It's a classic example of a bunch of people using something as an insult, and then when it gets reflected back upon them they hate it. I've lost track of the number of times IO've said lets just talk about football, but it becomes impossible on here.

As for the "pro and anti" stuff, like I say I think the debate has moved on. I did say in the "can we win win the league" thread that the question could be "EVER?". If we are mismanaged to the extent that Rafa and the Americans are for very much longer, it may well be the case that the absolute pinnacle of our ambitions is to get fourth from now on, I think the situation is that serious.

That said, the "pro and anti" stuff will rumble on as far as the forum is concerned, simply because people are so desperate to cling to the notion that they were right all along. I'll not promise I'm not going to get involved in such posturing, but I really do think the whole thing is besoming an irrelevence to be perfectly honest.

At this rate, we'll be talking about pro's and anti's, real fans and the like and we'll be a mid table club. People need to wake up IMHO.

Too many people living on Istanbul........today is reality......and the reality is we aint moved on, or built a team capable of wining the CL or the prem title since 05'....rafa has taken one step forward...and 2 back with our club....we are no better off than when houilier was in charge.

That's why we aren't in the race and that's why we'll NEVER be in the race as long as Benitez keeps operating the way he does. We got lucky last season (despite playing mediocre football for the better part of it), but we still it up.

Thats just a couple - look through a few more and you will see them

Istanbul bears no relation to the league whatsoever, for those not bright enough to realise then the Champions League isn't really a league, it is a CUP competition with a "group stage" just like the World CUP. Winning cups requires a lot less than winning leagues, that is why Pompey, spudz, Blackburn and sides like that win cups every now and then while being nowhere in the league most of the time. Winning 50% of your games will get you roughly where we end in the league on average, in the Champions League it is good enough to win it. To win the league you need to win around 75% of your games, Rafa falls well short.

So while people might love to love Istanbul, it isn't relevant in many many ways to the topic ie off-topic.
