Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think the bottom line is that our season now looks like being based on getting into the top 4 and little else. I know that we're still in the CL, but when we can't beat Burnley and we struggle against Watford in the domestic trophies, then I'm hardly going to be optimistic about our chances there.

The side has been completely gutted with injuries this season, so the best that I can see now is to set ourselves up for a better crack at all competitions next year. We have a lot of players struggling for form and fitness at the moment, and hopefully they can get it together between now and the beginning of next season, so that things start clicking again.

Wheres he been the last 2 league games, infact where was he in the away match at old trafford or the derby?

The saviour's above critisism though isn't he.

If that was me, i'd do what Houllier done last time and embarress him again. He walking arond the pitch playing garbage. When things aren't going your way you captains meant to drag you through or lead by example. Gerrard's doing nothing at the moment.

I agree totally. I think we are missing Alonso more now than we were Gerrard earlier in the season. Alonso is our most consistent player and our key for keeping the ball, Gerrard gave the ball away uselessly so many times against Man U, Chelsea, Southampton.

So far with the exception of Alonso the rest of the Spanish Lads should f.uck off and do what they know best:

What's most concerning is the attitude of some of the players.

At the moment we have no real options in midfield. No Kewell, no Alonso and no Nunez means the midfield basically picks itself, and im sure guys like Garcia, and Hamnn are either in the comfort zone becasue they know they'll play or they're confidence is so low yet they cant be rested cos we have nobody to bring in.

Id much rather see someone like Welsh given a chance in the first team. He may not be as experienced or talented as Hamann but he has more energy and will alwyas give us that bite in the midfield were missing.

Im sure Rafa has learnt some harsh lessons so far about what it takes to be an effective player in the PL. So far of his signings only Alonso has sufficiently proved himself (Morientes will do well when match fit) the others still look off the pace and shocked by the physical nature of the game.

I know we all make them within moments of seeing a player but lets be honest, you can't make a conclusive judgement of a foreign player untill he has had a full season under his belt in this league. Granted, a few can come in and shine from the word go - Robben and Heinze spring to mind this season but these exceptions tend to happen in fairly settled sides already playing to an excellent standard.
Just look at many of the foreign stars in the EPL and cast your mind back to their first season - Pires, Henry, Bergkamp, Baros, Ockocha and Viera all started very slowly but now look at them. Others come in, start with a bang in a handful of games, (Ronaldo springs to mind & perhaps Garcia will be the same) and then get found out for a time before their class shows through (as we are seeing more and more often with Ronaldo).
It seems many on here have already written off Garcia, Josemi and Nunez but then i bet they are the same guys who were hailing Josemi and Garcia as steals of the century after after just three or four games in the Red shirt.

c'on guys last game was bad but wasnt the end of the world. Second half saw another liv side that could've easily scored 3 goals if not for bad luck. New players need time to adapt and gel together. Patience!
But got to say...time for SG to stand up and lead the team as the captain  ???

Patience? We have no time to waste!
The More games we are losing the less chance we have of getting a must required Champions League spot this season.
Not getting in the Top Four this season is unthinkable
