Seems to think realistically he wont break into the team and that the pace of the game will be his downfall. He will come good and having observed his performances in the only half he played in (plus the passing + alonso'ish shot from halfway line) means we will be the one to watch having lost him as midfield link last year. Like a new signing to us. Hope Kenny keeps him.

Yeah I totally agree. It will be stupid to flogg him off on the cheap when he looks to be our "best" CM. I trust Kenny to wise up.

McAteer and Faircloughs comments are very valid - he did look good but I worry about how robust he is when it comes to the hustle of the prem and if he would go missing - at times he is the perfect analogy of lightweight

I agree, although he looked quality while Meireles looked poor, I still reserve some doubt about Aquilani's mentality and fitness. If he does play well then I'll be delighted! But time will tell I suppose, I'm going to get carried away over a pre-season friendly

Aquilani for me puts his foot in more than Meireles, didn't use to probably because he was scared of getting injured but he does do it, has better vision and passing than Meireles and is more suited to Kenny's type of play.

Deffo looked good today, but we all knew he's got skills.

Biggest question for me is "does he want to be here ?", no good hanging onto a player if his heart isn't in it.

But he has to show that in the prem - Meireles has .

Great game against Msia today.
in hindsight Roy's decision to loan him out to Juve
was a very very stupid move.

To be fair there will be more movement in this Liverpool team particularly up front so Acqua has targets up ahead to play off and slide balls into. Under both Rafa and Hodgson the system was very compact and cautious and hes not the type of lad that will knuckle down and graft but he loves to get on the ball and play. If we can get the ball to him in good areas hes the ability to start pushing it about and doing damage so you never know we may see something from him.

Fiorentina could bring Alberto Aquilani back to Serie A by paying Liverpool to take him on loan.

Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic confirmed in his Press conference on Friday that his team “needs an Aquilani-style midfielder” for this season.

The Italian international has made it clear he would like to play in Serie A after Juventus failed to take up their option to make a loan spell permanent.

According to the latest reports coming out of Florence, the Viola are prepared to pay Liverpool in order to have Aquilani on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Even with this cut-price method of taking the €14m-rated ex-Roma man, there are still big financial obstacles.

Aquilani’s contract is worth €4m per season, which is far above Fiorentina’s current wage average.

The club hopes Aquilani will agree to lower his wage demands in order to play regularly in the lead-up to Euro 2012.

Not really surprising if he goes - I fear he doesn't have the heart or desire to play in the prem .

looked good again today but the debate about the physicality and pace of the league will always rage on. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go though admittedly now I'd be a little disappointed but on the other hand if we get a decent offer and turn it down and he cant handle the prem (which is the risk) I'll be lamenting the fact we didn't take an offer. Catch 22, Kenny, the choice is yours

Whoever comes in for him better bloody well buy him though, everytime he goes out on loan his value will drop
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing

I would love for him to stay but if they are willing to pay his wages and one year of his contract and an option to buy at the end it may happen.

Its a joke that that they rate him at around 10-12 million euros and english clubs pay 20 million for nobodys.

I would say buy outright or fuck off. Juve screwed us over with the option to buy malaky, I wouldn't trust another Italian club to see it through, haven't they already declared his valuation is too high? They won't buy him, they'll take him for a year, then he has one year less on his contract and puts us in a worse position

Buy this summer or he's in our 25, end of
