As for all the apple downloads, the way I see it this is where all the fanboy stuff kicks in.

Take for example the ipad. Do you think that if say Samsung or Sony took this out first then people would be staying up all night outside Sony centres? I think not!!!

If it has an I in front of it people are only to happy to part with there money. I'm not saying devices aren't good, the total opposite actually but my mate who works in a phone store has told me before that people have come into the store and asked for an iPhone not even knowing what they are buying!!!

Everyone else has one so they have together one too

I'll leave you with this, name me one thing an iPhone can do that the desire HD can't?

You can design the interface of the phone whatever way you like, not tied down to apples rules and off course i can plug the phone into any pc in the world and take of or put on anytype of file simply thru a usb cable, just like any other external driver unlike apples itunes communist stance.

I have an I touch and use itunes all the time, its terrible program to use. As you can see I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to this to

Sent from my HTC.  :;):

Edit movies and pictures on the device - imovive
Download external content via hosted sites eg megaupload, yousendit - Download

IM sure as more API's become available to devs on android you will get a similar raft of apps across all platforms but for now im quite happy with what apple has present us and I don't have any intention of switching.

can any of these phones actually make a phone call?

My nokia has a pulse light that blinks when I have a message so you can see without waking the whole up, does the Galaxy/HTC/iphone?

My nokia also displayed the time when the phone was in sleep? does any of yours?

I think everyone should post a screen shot of how newkit looks on all the different phones, that will be my deciding factor.

i've been an apple fan for years - i'm on about my 5th mac laptop, as well as the 2 or 3 desktops i've had. my phone is an HTC though, the HTC hero to be precise. its a bit retro now but i love it, mainly because it has a tricorder app, and partly because the whole openness of the android system is something i firmly believe in. it does everything i need it to do and it does them well even though it suffers the downside of all HTC phones - the shíte battery life.

a month or so after i got it my girlfriend got the iphone4 and i have to say that it is the single most gorgeous and amazing gadget i have ever seen. its smooth, its fast, it looks great, the camera is excellent, the games are good, the screen is amazing, the sound rocks etc etc etc. however, before she could use it she had to upgrade the OS on her laptop and reconfigure her itunes. took her days.

as much as i love apple and their products the fact that it is tied into a certain operating system and a certain way of accessing content really puts me off it. plus the fact that it is just too fúcking expensive.

My Responses FWIW

iPhone 4 Disadvantages

No Flash support in the web browser

Sure its a negative NOW, but most technology advocates will tell you HTML5 is the way forward. Besides all important sites that use Flash (YouTube, iPlayer, etc) provides alternatives for the iPhone

No true multitasking for all applications

Agree to a limited sense. How much more is really needed?

iOS4 for iPhone 3G has limited new feature set

I thought this was iPhone 4 negatives. All manufacturers are going to have regression problems with older models

Poor performance on iPhone 3G

See above

No quick toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or 3G

AGREE.
No social networking integration

Not needed. You either have individual apps or use a social network amalgamator like Pidgin or Meebo

No info widgets on lockscreen or homescreen

Why need?

SMS tones are still not customizable

Yes they are. link

No mass mark emails as read
No proper file browser or access to the file system
No USB mass storage mode
No vibration feedback when touching the screen

These four are very minor IMO

No Bluetooth file transfers to other mobile phones

Contacts lack a swipe-to-delete or mass delete feature

[b]Accepted. Minor though.

No SMS/MMS delivery notifications

Accepted. Never used them TBH.

No smart dialing

Define smart dialling??

No DivX or XviD video support and no official third-party application to play that

Wrong. Download VLC player app

The whole iPhone is too dependent on iTunes - you cannot add the same type of content (video, photos, apps) to the phone from two computers, a regular file management interface would have been much better

Not 100% correct. Itunes is only required/mandatory for OS upgrades. many other applications can be used for syncing contacts, music, etc

BB's are good if your only worried about mail. They are so cheap though and with BBM they have become quite popular amongst youngsters. Still many more enterprise users are moving to iphone. RIM need to step up their HW offerings if they don't want to lose their market share.

I tried a BB once though, ended up pressing 2 buttons at a time so I thought fk that, next.
