All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing

For free aswell  :nod

Look Bav (or tubby) the iphone is a fine piece of kit. But its no HTC, yes the battery can go quick but only because of the size of the screen and there is plenty you can do now to conserve the battery, there is an app called juice defender an you can limit the use of apps that work in the background.

iPhone 4 Disadvantages

No Flash support in the web browser
No true multitasking for all applications
iOS4 for iPhone 3G has limited new feature set
Poor performance on iPhone 3G
No quick toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or 3G
No social networking integration
No info widgets on lockscreen or homescreen
SMS tones are still not customizable
No mass mark emails as read
No proper file browser or access to the file system
No USB mass storage mode
No vibration feedback when touching the screen
No Bluetooth file transfers to other mobile phones
Contacts lack a swipe-to-delete or mass delete feature
No SMS/MMS delivery notifications
No smart dialing
No DivX or XviD video support and no official third-party application to play that
The whole iPhone is too dependent on iTunes - you cannot add the same type of content (video, photos, apps) to the phone from two computers, a regular file management interface would have been much better

iPhone 4 Plus points

Homescreen wallpapers
Folder organization of the homescreen icons
Multitasking and fast app switching
Google/Wikipedia search in Spotlight
Bluetooth keyboard pairing support
SMS character counter
SMS search
Email threading
Unified Email inbox
Email archiving is now available when you setup Gmail
Spell checker
iPod music player can now create, edit and delete playlists
5x digital zoom in still camera
Touch-focus in video capture
Keyboard layouts span over QWERTY, QWERTZ, and AZERTY
Minor icon design facelifts
Video call support (only in iPhone 4 and only over Wi-Fi)
iBooks e-book and PDF reader

HTC Desire HD Disadvantages

LCD isn’t quite as impressive as Retina or Super AMOLED (lower contrast, more reflective)
No dedicated camera key and no lens cover
No front facing camera
Quite heavy at 164 g (not that we mind)
The two lids at the rear have questionable aesthetics and usability
Disappointing audio reproduction quality

HTC Desire HD Plus points

Quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G support
14.4 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA
4.3" 16M-color capacitive LCD touchscreen of WVGA resolution (480 x 800 pixels)
Android OS v2.2 Froyo with HTC Sense UI
Unibody design
Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8255 1 GHz processor
768 MB RAM and 1.5 GB ROM
8 MP autofocus camera with LED flash and geotagging
720p video recording @ 25fps
Wi-Fi b/g/n and DLNA
GPS with A-GPS
microSD slot up to 32GB (8GB card included)
Accelerometer and proximity sensor
Standard 3.5 mm audio jack
Stereo FM radio with RDS
microUSB port (charging) and stereo Bluetooth v2.1
Smart dialing, voice dialing
DivX/XviD video support
Dolby Mobile and SRS sound enhancement
HTC Locations app
HTCSense.com integration
Ultra-fast boot times (if you don’t remove battery)

OK let's take a look at some of these 'disadvantages'

1) No Flash support in the web browser

Flash is on it's way out. And thank god too. It's resource intensive.

2) No true multitasking for all applications

Can you give a practical example in what sense it is not true multitasking? It allows you to switch between apps, that's all that is really needed

3) No social networking integration

Social networking integration was one of the biggest bug bears when I had an android and why the battery drained so much.
Anyway the facebook app for android is a joke anyway, better off accessing it via web on android.

4) No proper access to file system.

I see people banging on about this all the time but the reality is how popular is itunes? People are used to it so I don't think they
are really too botherd. THe only ones who moan are those who either don't have an iphone or have never had one.

5) No vibration feedback when touching the screen

Haptics is nice but essentially it's an additional form of letting the user know you have touched the screen and was historically
implemented because the TS's most phones use are not as good or responsive as what apple have used.

6)No DivX or XviD video support and no official third-party application to play that

Really? Actually I hardley use the iphones native video player now except for stuff purchased from itunes. I play everything including div x
with VLC.

7) The whole iPhone is too dependent on iTunes

Again didn't Apple this year celebrate it's gazzilionth download on itunes? Come back when Android or another rival company develops an equally
profitable online content store.

As for the HTC DEsire plus points you are just listing specs, how are these practical advantages?

How about for all it's processing power none of these android devices have hardware accellerated UI like iphone. Not even the new range have this
and im talking about the motorola atrix, even atrix 3d, the galaxy s 2 ect...

Or how about the fragmentation between devices thanks do manufacturers wanting to create their own skin on top of of the UI which
only servers to delay users getting OS updates when Google release them. Or how about no vetting of apps leading to more malicious apps on android. This also massivly affects android as being seen as a provider of mobile games. Mobile gaming has been revolutionised on iphone and the fragmentation on android means they will never reach those heights. They only just about got angry bird on ffs.

Developers like a stable platform to build on, they don't want to have to keep making different versions with some less able that others to suit vendor driven phones.

Or how about the shyte native mail client on android, ms exchange mail is :censored: on android.

Btw iphone 4 also has all the wifi standards, accelerometer, 3.5mm jack ect...did you just pull this of some android fan site mate?

I am not an apple fanboy in the slightest, I only stick with their devices because they provide me with what I need. When Android can come
up with a competing device that can match or better it across all areas then ill galdly switch but right now I don't have any need to.

The way I see it Android devices can be found at every price bracket, they are essentially filling the mass market gap left by nokia and symbian.
They may have some following from those who like to tweak roms ect.. but they will never be able to compete at the high end with iphone.

lol this is brill...

the way I see it is a bit like this...

Samsung Galaxy S - Got all the bells and whistles but is a big phone.
Samsung Galaxy Ace - a good size, good price but doesn't support flash and there doesn't seem to be much out there for it (themes etc)
Iphone 4 - good size and functionality but the price is too high. maybe restricted a bit to itunes etc
HTC Desire HD - far too big for a phone. gets good reviews though

Good response tubby, you are obviously really into your phones  :D

I'll leave you with this, name me one thing an iPhone can do that the desire HD can't?

You can design the interface of the phone whatever way you like, not tied down to apples rules and off course i can plug the phone into any pc in the world and take of or put on anytype of file simply thru a usb cable, just like any other external driver unlike apples itunes communist stance.

I have an I touch and use itunes all the time, its terrible program to use. As you can see I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to this to
