Out of interest, what exactly is twitter useful for?

It seems to me to be a quick source for BS, and for annoying celebs to voice their opinion. Now yes, occasionally someone funny comes up with a masterpiece to entertain us all, but very rarely. The rest of the time its just (to me anyway) annoying and full of BS.

Or do I have it totally wrong?

I'm not on twitter, I don't have anything particularly interesting to say in 140 characters that won't offend anyone :D

I know a few lawyers who use it and it allows them to meet and communicate with a vast amount of people, and the fact its only 140 characters means you're not constantly reading drivel. Friends meet friend with common interests, it comes off to me as a more intellectual kind of thing, well at least I think that's what it was supposed to be for. Our owners wife uses it, I know Suarez updates often as well

I use Facebook, but even then I don't talk a lot but I'm friends with anyone up for a bit of patter or football chat :D
