Got to say what a superb Olympics for the Reds, I mean GB!

Its so nice to have something POSITIVE to cheer about being British as opposed to our usual dose of daily doom and gloom from the miserable media. At last at least in the short term people are saying enough of the negativeness and lets be proud again. Well done to teh entire GB team, they're all heroes.

Moving on, I'm having fun in the office accusing the Chinese of being drug takers which clearly they are, but when you see how many more medals of all colours we have compared to France, Girmany and Italy etc..l it makes you realise that with the Lottery money we have become a nation of professional athletes. We don't need the drugs because we have the facilities and the financial resources to support centres of excellence for all sports. Dave Brailsford and the cycling team have got to be the best example of scientific sport. Long may it continue, though obviously its directly related to Lottery funding. I have no problem with this but lets catch the drug users and throw them out.

Great opening ceremony by the way, loved the James Bond bit bit too much teenage ***** music for my taste - but playing Bowie's 'Heroes' throughout the games has been a masterstroke. The buzz is the closing ceremony will be equally good.

Last point.... shame the overpaid footballers don't have the same single mindedness and determination to win that the other athletes do. Shows you how far football has dropped behind. They're not hungry... I wonder why.

Jesus F-ing Christ Reg, haven't you been reading this pinko-pseudo-socialist-apologist thread. Tread carefully, too much enjoyment will bring in the anti-enjoyment committee.  :D

Best moment of the Olympics

Thought the girl was brilliant. On her way to the title she beat 5 time world champ Mery Kun and in the final itself took apart the fantastically named (three time world champ) Ren Cancan.

Haven't enjoyed boxing so much since Sugar Ray Leonard retired.

Well done and great great very great respect to Nicola,  :buttrock

Still buzzing after tonight. Farah immense, Jamaica imperious and Tom Daley getting a medal which is great after all he's been through. Don't want it to end. I'd nearly forgotten there was a rather good footy tournament earlier this summer. Overshadowed by the Tour de France and then the Olympics.

Back to the cynically professional, diving, moaning, overpaid and self obsessed world of football it seems next week.  :D

So Lebron leads the USA to gold with a great performance.  Goes to his bag an pulls out a Liverpool scarf.  Holds it high and some usher (Steward) comes and pulls it out of his hands.  Well done Lebron.
