Scrap the mosque - Petition

I don't know if you have heard about this but Ken Livingstone is apparently planning to use tax payer's money to build an enormous mosque costing an estimated £100M in the docklands, London.
Wouldn't it be better to spend the money on a new hospital or improved transport facilities, surely anything but such a scheme as this.
The mosque will apparently be BIGGER THAN ST PAUL'S.!

The plan is for the mosque to be so big that people flying in from All over the world for the 2012 Olympics will see it as the biggest Landmark in London, bigger than St Paul's, Westminster Abbey or Wembley Stadium.

The vote so far is 56 % in favour, as the Muslim community in the UK Is casting it's vote in droves, and as usual the British are burying their heads in the sand.

It is an undemocratic use of British Tax payers money, especially when our Churches that are 100's of years old get no government funding to keep their structures standing, and we are supposedly a Christian Nation.

To vote to "Scrap the 'Mega-Mosque" please sign the official Government petition in the link below.

i think 100 million for a mosque is a great price ???

people round here havnig been going mental about this for a while now, but everytime anyone mentions it they get done for racism or some other equal opportunities bullsh!t.

the fact is that if it was a church, synagogue or anything else it would not be built for 100 million, its an absolute travesty but votes wont count as sooner or later some skinhead idiot will post something to ruin it all.

Nobody needs to step foot in any type of building to prayand believe in God, don't see the point i don't go to church but i believe in God it's all just a waste of money if i'm honest, you could build the worlds biggest place of worship but if you are not true to yourself you still walk out a sinner.

I just think we have problems of our own that need money to try to sort out, like public transport or the NHS. These 2 come at the top of the list well above a mosque.

until they see the plans and realise it's 300ft underwater a couple of miles off the coast borneo. no lifejackets either.

signed or not, doubt this petition will work. KL knows what he is doing, IMO. Most mosques i know of built in the US, Canada, Uk, Oz, etc, have recieved funding from countries such as Jordan (whom i have huge respect for), Saudi, UAE, etc, etc. Due to this outside funding, there is a sense of loyalty, especially to the personalities behind the funding. It will be remembered.

I think perhaps KL (or the gov) is thinking long term.

But should tax payers money be used to build any place of worship in this day and age? feck no (imo).

they probably needed the 100mil to be able to get service station refreshments!

Cost me about 3 grand for a sprite last time I was in one! :D

I have no problem with government money being used to help build a mosque but 100mill is a bit too much in my eyes. Considering the NHS is struggling big time, areas of the country that were devastated a couple of weeks back by the floods are only getting a few million to help clean up and rebuild and are facing the prospect of years not months before they can return to their homes as they were.

I totally agree with Lee J... good on you!

I don't have anything against other religions....but I do find this a lil worrying....

If the olympics were to be held in a muslim country..you can bet your bottom dollar they wouldn't be building a massive church to accommodate us westerners...
