SOCCER star Joe Cole was attacked and beaten up at a party, it was revealed last night.

The England and Chelsea midfielder was hit in the face by a man in a row over a glamour model.

He was cut and bruised but did not need hospital treatment. Police were not called and he is not taking any action over the incident.

It happened hours after Cole played in Chelsea's Cup tie with Huddersfield at the weekend.

He went to a club and then a party. Model Keeley Hazell was also there.

Keeley, 18, has appeared semi-naked in several papers and magazines.

During the party a man took exception to Cole and attacked him.

A guest said: "Poor Joe just did not see it coming. Some people said he had fallen asleep on a bed when he was suddenly hit.

"He did nothing to provoke the attack and certainly did not throw any punches. The bedroom was pretty badly messed up. Everyone piled in to break it up.

"The row was definitely over a girl but nobody was quite sure exactly what started it all."

A spokesman for Cole said the player has had no relationship with Keeley and is in a stable relationship.

He added: "On Saturday night Joe went back to a party at Keeley's house with a large group of people.

"While he was there he was assaulted by another man. He left the party and got a taxi home.

"He did not receive any medical treatment."

Keeley, from Bromley, Kent, has been romantically linked with several football players including Manchester United star Keiron Richardson and West Ham's Anton Ferdinand. She is also friends with many other players from London clubs including Cole.

i hard is a bit differently, i heard he was giiven a right pasting and ended up staggering to a taxi office, covered in blood and no shirt, and no money. the taxi wouldnt take him until they called coles dad who promised to pay the taxi when he got home.

JOE COLE is likely to escape disciplinary action from José Mourinho after reportedly being beaten up in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Chelsea midfield player was said to be badly beaten at the southeast London home of Keeley Hazell, a glamour model, after a night out with John Terry to celebrate their side’s FA Cup third-round win over Huddersfield Town.

The England internationals, along with Anton Ferdinand and Bobby Zamora, the West Ham United players, celebrated in the Embassy club in the West End before Cole returned with others to a house in Grove Park, where the altercation took place. There is no suggestion that Cole was the instigator.

Mourinho takes a dim view of his players socialising until the early hours, but Cole should escape punishment as the manager had given his squad Sunday and Monday off. The 24-year-old returned to training yesterday with no discernible injuries and is expected to take his place in Chelsea’s squad to face Sunderland in the Barclays Premiership at the weekend.

Mourinho has banned his players from going out the night before a training session, but gives them more license during their days off.
