No one won anything in the world wars as people died - for me that is no victory . We stopped the Germans from winning .

And as for National Service - you can feck off shoving the little a r seholes into the military - i wouldnt want to work alongside people forced into it .

What if those who were on national service were kept seperate from those actually serving? In any case they shouldn't be sent on operations as that will just turn into another Vietnam. Forced conscription never works as hostory has shown but in terms of discipline and learning to listen surley it's the best way. If the parents and teachers cant control them then who will?

If you kept them seperate what use would they be then ? would be just like a prison or a boot camp .

i reckon the americans would never had joined the war effort in europe if it werent for the japanese.

secondly, we'd been fighting germany for 2 years before they came along (they always turn up late for wars ). Seriuosly though, we'd have still beaten the germans albeit over a longer term by ourselves.

Sorry Judge, I have to disagree.

The best we could have hoped for in the long term, fighting Nazi Germany alone would have been a truce followed by a diplomatic settlement. No way could we have beaten Nazi Germany without the aid (food and munitions) provided by the Americans.

The American government wanted to join the war far earlier than they did but the general populace was against it. After WWI America adpoted an isonaionlist policy , ie  let the Europeans sort out their own sh'it why should we bleed for them. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour swung public opinion and the US at last entered the war. To their credit the Americans then gave priority to the war in Europe over the war against Japan.

Lets not forget however the 20 million plus Russians who died fighting in WW2. If anything won the war it was American material coupled with Russian blood.

Do any of you guys actually study history or do you just go with the movies you've seen ? .

Thats what I'm talking about.  Kinda forgot about him after the primary election.  Didn't know that a lot of people were writing his name in, might have done that instead of voting for Bob Barr. One in the same.

Was really happy that a Libertarian got enough votes in one of the Georgia senate races to force a run off (no candidate got 50% +)

He was one of the few politicians who had spoken out about how there's going to be a financial crisis and nobody listened to him, instead that Giuliani just kept laughing at him during the debates.  I'm not an American, but I really respect this guy, he really made some great points about how to change USA, but sadly many did not listen.
